This is our very short shortlist of two. Which do you prefer?

I love both these names unfortunately my DH doesn't

Nathan was my favourite with DS1 but DH hated it
Seth is my favourite with DS2 (due Oct) and I think DH is coming round slowly (He chose DS1's name)

So if I had to pick I'd say Seth

spanky2 · 16/07/2014 20:36

I prefer Nathan, but I do like Seth. I prefer a two syllable name, my dcs have two syllable names. We have a one syllable surname which is why I prefer a two syllable first name.

MB34 · 16/07/2014 20:36

Will you chose a middle name OP? If we do use Seth I'm struggling as I don't like most boy names! I do have one in mind but am unsure

Cpt1sock · 16/07/2014 20:38

Seth, don't like Nathan at all. Seth is lovely, suits baby, boy & man. Nathan just makes me think of a grumpy teenage.

Cpt1sock · 16/07/2014 20:38

Grumpy teenager that should read.

Namedilemma · 16/07/2014 20:39

It's not easy to think of a middle name for Seth! That's one of the things in favour of Nathan, which seems to me to go with a lot more names.
Looking through earlier threads, someone suggested Seth Daniel which I think sounds great, but Daniel is my brother's name so seems weird...

Nathan by a long, long way.

MB34 · 16/07/2014 20:46

Yes, someone told me Daniel for a middle name too (you aren't her, are you Wink).
I'm thinking Lloyd - we have a double barrelled surname (3syllables-1 syllable) so two short first names really 'go' I think

MrsJamesMartin · 16/07/2014 20:49

I have a Seth Daniel Smile

Namedilemma · 16/07/2014 20:51

How funny - Daniel must be the obvious middle name of choice for Seth!

Seth is lovely. I have known three boys called Nathan, they have all served prison sentences.

Seth. By a l

CollieEye · 16/07/2014 20:56

By a long way!

MumOfTheMoos · 16/07/2014 20:56

Seth!

Kerberos · 16/07/2014 20:57

Seth

buttercrumble · 16/07/2014 20:57

Seth

CPtart · 16/07/2014 20:57

Nathan by a mile.
Seth is in the same vein as Stan and Noah of which I have an irrational dislike.

LynetteScavo · 16/07/2014 21:00

Nathan.

Seth is the only name worse than Nigel.

(just my personal opinion, really don't mean to offend).

Nathan - cool, but not too popular. Traditional without being stuffy.

Oly4 · 16/07/2014 21:01

Nathan. Hate Seth

EndoplasmicReticulum · 16/07/2014 21:02

I prefer Seth as taught too many Nathans who were not model students (putting it politely).

I wouldn't have been able to use it though as I have a lithp.

IsabellaRockerfeller · 16/07/2014 21:02

I don't like Nathan but I do like Nate and Nathaniel. Seth is one of those marmite names, people either love it or hate it!

Tupperwife · 16/07/2014 21:02

Nathan. Initially for that bit in Handel's Zadok the Priest which always gave me goosebumps sings 'and Nathan the Prophet...'

And then I married the only Nathan I've met in real life and it's fab. Grin

Raahh · 16/07/2014 21:04

What about Seth Nathaniel. Sounds like Seth Daniel, neatly incorporates Nathan. Grin

Thurlow · 16/07/2014 21:08

Seth! I love it, such a great name.

kaymondo · 16/07/2014 21:11

CPTart would hate me - I have a Noah and a Seth!

Unsurprisingly I vote Seth - love it (my Seth goes by his middle name so is actually William Seth, but think Seth William works too).
