Don't like it at all. Very 80s feel and the word 'curt' doesn't have a particularly appealing meaning.

Superfurryanimal77 · 14/07/2014 14:49

i really like it! it is a lovely little name and would be as cute as button
I once watched a programme with a very lovable character called Kurt!

Sophronia · 14/07/2014 14:57

I like it but I do associate it quite a bit with Kurt Cobain.

Leeds2 · 14/07/2014 15:00

Wouldn't be my choice. I always think of "curt."

VerityWaves · 14/07/2014 15:03

Kurt cobain is what my generation would jump to...

JenniferJo · 14/07/2014 15:04

Awful, unless you are American. Still awful but more acceptable. ;)

MilkandCereal · 14/07/2014 15:26

Love it.

weatherall · 14/07/2014 15:28

It makes me think of the holly oaks character.

It doesn't have the nicest sound or meaning but it's not that bad.

I much prefer Curtis. I think that's a lovely name.

bac1985 · 14/07/2014 15:56

I am a Nirvana fan and I too associate Kurt with Kurt Cobain. So naming my child Kurt may seem like a 'fanboy' thing to do. But my partner and I do like the name Kurt.

Character in "Brideshead Revisited" with a sceptic foot. And awful in any case

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 14/07/2014 16:21

Aha yes- I was just about to say 'gangrenous dipsomaniac sidekick'.

However I actually quite like it.

Gingerjv · 14/07/2014 16:22

Kurt is nice name! i like it. though i have other top names;-)

bac1985 · 15/07/2014 07:21

We also like the name as it fits our criteria:

  1. Traditional (Germanic)
  2. Uncommon
  3. Doesn't sound middle class

See I associate it with Kurt from Glee , who is lovely.

We have decided on Kurt Frederick Coughlin.

As the initials are KFC, we want to add a second middle name :) which is proving quite difficult.

What do you think of Kurt Frederick Hunter Coughlin?

OP posts:
Whenwillwe3meetagain · 12/08/2014 15:39

Please use Frederick or Hunter instead of Kurt as a first name!

bac1985 · 12/08/2014 17:50

I'm open to suggestions for a second middle name.

OP posts:
Montsti · 12/08/2014 17:52

I really don't like it, sorry.

nemno · 12/08/2014 18:02

I like it

Other middle name might sound best with 2 short syllables eg

Peter
Ivan

bac1985 · 12/08/2014 18:42

Kurt Frederick Phoenix Coughlin?

Ivan is cool, thanks.
