Jemimah, although a lovely name doesn't go with Miah - too many M's.

Bella Miah sounds like an Italian profanity. Same with Gabriella.

Out of all of them, Annabel goes best with Miah, I think, though I'm not overly keen.

MummyBeerest · 01/07/2014 17:04

Annabel Miah

BeyoncesCat · 01/07/2014 17:08

None sorry. Why does it have to be miah?

hmmmwhatnow · 01/07/2014 17:10

Argh knew it DH is set on Bella/Annabel but I'm not keen at all.

I like Jemima but agree re Miah being too rhymey.

Miah is our surname so other than divorce I'm stuck with it Wink

The h on the Miah looks a bit odd, seems kind of medical.

Bella is my favourite from your list although as already mentioned it doesn't go with Mia. Sounds like something Italian White Van Man would shout out of his transit at some passing lovely.

Bella by itself is nice though.

squoosh · 01/07/2014 17:12

I see!

Hmmm, then you definitely can't have an Italian first name!

And Jemima Miah sounds like Mamma Mia.

lettertoherms · 01/07/2014 17:13

Annabel is best because it avoids the -ah sound, but you have the same issue with nn Anna. They're all great names, just not sure they work.

Is there one you're drawn to when you think of DD? Or perhaps there would be if you glanced at some name lists?

And congrats! Thanks

I'm drawn to loads but DH hates them all I like Juno, Rosemary, Imogen, violet (but his mum can't say v ).

squoosh you were on my "disease or mama mia" thread just thought I'd try out jemima without the connotations - fail Grin

BeyoncesCat · 01/07/2014 18:31

Oh Grin sorry I thought that was going to be a middle name like for a great aunt or something!

Ok I get it now. They the only names you like? Quite a hard one actually

BeyoncesCat · 01/07/2014 18:32

Violet Miah is lovely

BlueStarsAtNight · 01/07/2014 18:33

Sorry but I thought Mamma Mia too for Jemima.

I agree with the others that Annabel sounds best. Anna Miah works better than Bella Miah as a nn.

mummybare · 01/07/2014 18:34

Gabriella (or Gabrielle?) or Imogen for me.

Allalonenow · 01/07/2014 18:41

Gabriella is my favourite, but also like Annabel very much.
With your surname, I think Annabel works best, and for a nn I would use Belle rather than Bella.

eatyourveg · 01/07/2014 19:29

Gabriella - no contest! Love it and it works with Miah

looki · 01/07/2014 19:45

Jemima.

Sundaedelight · 01/07/2014 19:50

Gabriella Miah works well. Gabby Miah is what she could be known as too.

Marcipex · 01/07/2014 22:25

Annabel, out of your choices.

But I would be avoiding the a ending for the first name. I think eg Lucy Miah, Lauren Miah, flows better.

hmmmwhatnow · 02/07/2014 11:01

Right sat with DH last night and came up with 3 new options!

Erin

Annika

Evelyn (eeve-lin or ev-lin?)

What do you think?

OP posts:
squoosh · 02/07/2014 11:07

hmmmwhatnow I'd forgotten your last thread although obviously it seeped into my subconscious! Grin

I agree with Marcipex that you should avoid any name ending in a. It will just sound like an Italian exclamation.

From your latest list I think Evelyn would work really well. The ev-lin pronunciation would be my choice.

Legionofboom · 02/07/2014 11:13

I like Erin and I think it works well with your surname.

Evelyn is ok too but Eve Miah doesn't sound great.

Not keen on Annika.

eatyourveg · 02/07/2014 11:17

NO! - all of the first list are better than theses new ones - sorry. If you're going to avoid names ending in a then go for Gabrielle

Gabrielle Miah - sounds very feminine and conjures up the image of a strong high achieving school girl who wins lots of prizes on speech day. Sorted! Smile

CPtart · 02/07/2014 11:20

Erin is lovely and goes well.
Evelyn too similar to all the millions of Eves and Evies and Evas...

AChildminder88 · 02/07/2014 13:20

Evelyn
Annabel
Erin

My faves in order x

Rivercam · 02/07/2014 13:23

Annabel goes best with your sir name. Bella as a nn?
