....it is mean and horrible to judge people's names but today I came across a name I felt I had to share. Skalett.

Thought it was a typo but definitely not. A unique spelling I have never seen before so if that was the parents' aim I think they have succeeded. Now go ahead and flame me for being an evil bitch and judging poor little Skalett's parents. Or, even better please come and tell me that this is a recognised Scandinavian spelling of Scarlett so that I can stop feeling sorry for the poor little mite.

Am not going to comment on Skalett - except to say that any unusual/irrregular spelling can make life difficult.

I just wanted to add this piece of useless information: Scarlett O'Hara's 'proper' (ie first) name was Katie.

Scarlett was her grandmother's maiden name, used as her middle name. A story - don't know how true - is told that, originally, the author wanted to call her heroine 'Pansy'(!!!) but was persuaded by her publisher that Scarlett sounded more dashing. A whole new name was invented.
