Just Nell, not a longer name on bc like Eleanor or Helena.
Do I go for it ? I'm days away now from due date.

I love it as a shortening of a more traditional name.

calzone · 28/06/2014 17:18

Love it. Just Nell.

Notso · 28/06/2014 17:29

Love it just as it is.

TessOfTheFurbyvilles · 28/06/2014 17:48

It's my younger sister's name and she is Nell on her bc.

Likewise I am Tess on my bc, not short for anything.

If it's what you love, then go for it.

fiestabelle1 · 28/06/2014 17:55

Beautiful name, simple and classic - go for it.

RabbitSaysWoof · 28/06/2014 20:09

Love. I would do it.

DeadCert · 28/06/2014 20:15

Love it

Molotov · 29/06/2014 18:52

With the benefit of hindsight, I would have chosen Eleanor, nn. Nell, for dd1. I love Nell Smile

Molotov · 29/06/2014 18:52

Yes, if you love Nell as the full name, go for it. It's beautiful

littlejohnnydory · 29/06/2014 20:49

Go for it! We are (Nell is our name for dc4 if this bump turns out to be pink). Having a "known as" name that was different from the name on my birth cert caused me so many problems that I changed it by deed poll before my wedding just so that I could be married as the name I'd always been called, rather than have a starnger's name read out. So I go for using the name we'll call the child).

Thanks all. Can't wait for my little Nell to arrive! X

Just Nell is nice.

Choccyhobnob · 01/07/2014 12:08

I love it, DH won't agree to it Sad

Trooperslane · 01/07/2014 12:09

Gorgeous.

BakingBunty · 01/07/2014 14:16

Love it just as it is. Was on the list for DS, who turned out to be a Ned - we had similar debates about whether to give him a longer name and decided against it. You do get a few older people saying 'oooh, is that short for Edward or Edmund?' but they are few and far between.

Enjoy meeting little Nell!

Yorkshirelassreturns · 03/07/2014 20:51

I know I am bucking the trend here but it's a name that I actively dislike and it is a shortening for my own name. My advice- give her a longer name and use Nell as a nn but at least then she has other options if, like me she grows up to hate it. Congratulations!

Choc88 · 10/07/2014 13:13

Absolutely stunning! Love Nell with the middle name Florence!

Gingerjv · 10/07/2014 19:43

I like it only as a shortening or middle name...

scrivette · 10/07/2014 20:40

Ahh congratulations! Hope you are ok and you are enjoying getting to know baby Nell.
