Olivia or Elsie???

Baby is due in a few weeks and we can't decide between these two names! Olivia has been a favourite since we found out its a girl, but then everyone says it's really popular at the moment. Not sure whether that puts me off or not. I don't know of any other Olivia's other than an 11 year old, but don't want her to be in a class with loads of others with the same name!?!

Elsie I always really like and my initials are LC so it kind of has a link to my name which I like!! Thoughts on either would be greatly appreciated!

Elsie.

Though I think it's becoming increasingly popular, so in a few years there might well be a couple in your DD's school.

I really am not keen on Olivia, sorry. If I had to write a list of girls names I don't like it would be on it. Each to their own.

Not a fan of Olivia- it's popular but I don't know any baby Olivia's they are all 5/6yrs.

I like Elsie, much prefer Elsa though x

Olivia.

Don't like Elsie at all, although think that Elsa is fab & much prefer that to Olivia.

BlueStarsAtNight · 28/06/2014 17:52

Olivia. Prefer Elsa to both of them though.

DramaAlpaca · 28/06/2014 18:01

Olivia is absolutely beautiful.

Elsie is awful, sorry, & Elsa isn't much better.

Bowlersarm · 28/06/2014 18:03

Olivia

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 28/06/2014 18:06

Olivia. Elsie is OK as a name if you are 103 and/or had a part asgobby Northern Woman in the 1960s in Coronation street.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 28/06/2014 18:07

Oh and Elsa is OK if you are a lion.

BabCNesbitt · 28/06/2014 18:09

Olivia. It's popular, but it's an elegant name that works for an adult but can also be abbreviated for a child if you want. Elsie doesn't really translate well to adulthood IMO.

I know kind of each, and like both the names.
Personally prefer olivia

buttercrumble · 28/06/2014 18:13

Elsie. Olivia is lovely but too popular for me

Em1503 · 28/06/2014 18:53

Thanks for the replies, yes I am still leaning towards Olivia and so is DH, although he has just suggested something else which has just thrown a spanner in the works...! It's so hard to decide!! Grin

New baby born yesterday
Elizabeth Sarah is name but will be called Elsie
Not really sure on this one

Love Olivia though

Elsie is a gorgeous name. I'd use it except it is too similar to dd1's name. Olivia is a very common (as in frequently used) name.
