I'm after boys' names and girls' names. Also curious what vibe Zoe gives. Thanks!

This is really interesting. Lots of lovely names, though I think we might have more conservative taste in boys names than girls names.

To me Zoe has quite an 'established' vibe rather than a quirky one. I see it as a name that has been well known for deades but has never been 10 a penny. Cute but also grown up.

I'd put it in a camp with names like:

Amy, Abigail, Alice, Alison, Alicia, Anna, Annabel, Anne, Annie, Ashleigh, Amanda, Amber, April, Andrea, Adele, Bridget, Bianca, Beth, Charlotte, Caroline, Catherine, Chloe, Cassandra, Claire, Christina, Daniela, Danielle, Emma, Emily, Eleanor, Eloise, Erin, Erica, Esther, Fiona, Frances, Gemma, Georgina, Hannah, Holly, Hazel, Harriet, Helen, Heather, Hayley, Isabel, Imogen, Jessica, Joanna, Jennifer, Jade, Jasmine, Judy, Katie, Kate, Karen, Kimberley, Kirsty, Lucy, Leah, Laura, Lauren, Lara, Lorna, Lisa, Maria, Madeleine, Melissa, Melanie, Megan, Michelle, Molly, Millie, Naomi, Natalie, Natasha, Paige, Phoebe, Ruth, Rose, Samantha, Stephanie, Sasha, Sian, Sinead, Siobhan, Tiffany, Tessa, Victoria, Vanessa.

Adam, Andrew, Aaron, Benjamin, Christopher, Callum, David, Daniel, Ewan, Ethan, Gareth, Harry, Henry, Isaac, John, James, Jonathan, Joshua, Joseph, Jack, Jake, Luke, Lucas, Liam, Matthew, Mark, Marcus, Michael, Nathan, Nicholas, Owen, Patrick, Peter, Paul, Robert, Richard, Ryan, Seth, Timothy, William, Zach

Wow spot on MNetters. Zoe was on my shortlist and most of the others have been listed on this thread.

OP what about Tess or Sadie?

DH says that Sadie sounds too much like Sadist. Tess reminds me of Tessof the d'Urbervilles, which doesn't end well for Tess.

I have a Zoe. Her MN is Susannah which is a lovely and currently much underused name. The 'vibe' was cute for a wee girl but also works well for a grown woman. Had the same idea for my sons (names that would not age badly) and these are the names we have used for them (I have 3 sons, couple of names each, not loads of sons!)

William
Thomas
Luke
George
Benedict
Joseph
James

Other boys names on our shortlist were
Adam
Jacob
John
Matthew
Patrick
Peter
Edward

Other girls names
Eleanor
Isobel
Grace
Charlotte
Ottilie

Pico2 · 27/06/2014 07:59

Susannah is lovely.

We seem to have loads of friends with children, so choices are reducing if we want to avoid duplicates.
