Irish Baby Boy Names

BeckaH123 · 23/06/2014 12:45

I am trying to think of some nice Irish boy names which are easy enough for someone not from Ireland to be able to spell, but nothing super common either - eg. I am not a big fan of Conor, Callum, Ciaran, Sean / Shaun but I love Patrick, Ruari, Eoin / Owen and Dermott / Diarmuid.

Dara
Cillian
Lorcan
Donal
Conall

BlueChampagne · 23/06/2014 12:58

Aidan or Brendan

Ronan is nice

MummyBeerest · 23/06/2014 13:01

Nolan is a good one

Love Cormac.

Oisin is my favourite Irish boys name.

Also like Micheal, Seamus, Cillian.

badtime · 23/06/2014 17:41

People will think Micheal is a spelling mistake. I have seen it used as an example of illiterate parents on a lot of threads.

Eamon
Ronan
Declan
Finn
Finbar
Fintan
Brendan
Colm/Colman
Cormac
Fergal

I think these would all be pretty easy for people from outside Ireland. There are only a couple I really like, though.

FoodieMum3 · 23/06/2014 20:31

Rian (fada over the I)
Cian
Liam
Darragh/Daire/ Darragh
Cillian
Ruairi
Senan
Seamus
Conor
Fionn
Cathal
Oran

Although my guess would be at least 3 of those wouldn't be easy for people outside Ireland?

scarletforya · 23/06/2014 20:34

I love Fionnán.

basgetti · 23/06/2014 20:36

I love Dara. It's one of my choices if this one is a boy.

FoodieMum3 · 23/06/2014 20:41

I love Dara too but so many Irish speakers are adamant that Dara is the female spelling?

InanimateCarbonRod · 23/06/2014 20:44

Oisín
Fionn
Ã?dinn
DÃ ire (darragh)

InanimateCarbonRod · 23/06/2014 20:45

Stupid phone ...

Oisin
Fionn
Odinn
Daire

7Days · 23/06/2014 21:00

I think it's spelt Daragh for a boy

basgetti · 23/06/2014 21:03

I've seen a few spellings, my cousin is Darragh. I think Dara is the English spelling?

OpiesOldLady · 23/06/2014 21:07

I have a Ciaran and a Brennan.
