Do they live up to their meaning?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 19/06/2014 21:36

Golden (haired) princess. Sometimes she does !

idontlikealdi · 19/06/2014 21:36

I don't even know!

Singlesuzie · 19/06/2014 21:38

Dc1= fine/slender (yep he is)
Dc2= pale (yep- apart from poor sunburnt cheeks today)

Surf25 · 19/06/2014 21:39

Grace and wisdom.
Sometimes, and sometimes!!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 19/06/2014 21:42

DS = belonging to the Lord
DD = Truth

I wouldn't have chosen a name that meant something really horrible, but I mainly just chose them because I liked them...

elQuintoConyo · 19/06/2014 21:46

Deer
Friend
God
Spear

Or "one who lives in a bin and is grouchy".

None of which were the reason we chose the name!

weegiemum · 19/06/2014 21:48

Dd1 = pure (Katherine)
Ds = aflame (Aidan)
Dd2= a ewe lamb (Rachel)

elQuintoConyo · 19/06/2014 21:49

Oh, just tead full op Blush

Erm... none of the first four, but lives in a bin and is grouchy - not far from the truth! Grin

DS is a giggle covered in skin.

elQuintoConyo · 19/06/2014 21:51

My first name means ewe ^^ and my surname means hurtful. If I'd double-barrelled with DH on marriage, I'd have been a fat (his name in Polish) hurtful ewe Grin suits me to a tee!

MrsBungle · 19/06/2014 21:52

Oh ken I think our dd's must have the same name.

Dd is also golden princess/queen. She does have golden hair and is a bit of a drama queen.

Ds's means crooked nose. Luckily he doesn't live up to it! The original meaning is not crooked nose anyway, I think it's crooked hill or rock face or something.

Wadingthroughsoup · 19/06/2014 21:52

DD's name means olive tree. I'm not sure how one could live up to that, unless I think of the symbolism of an olive branch, in which case no, as she is far from peaceful.

DS's name means fair-haired warrior. He is extremely blonde and rather shouty and physical so, yeah, that fits.

pearlgirl · 19/06/2014 21:52

The Lord is my judge
The Lord has heard
The Lord has added
The Lord is God.

Wadingthroughsoup · 19/06/2014 21:53

I'm a ewe, too :)

TheSarcasticFringehead · 19/06/2014 21:53

Wolf and Lily.

Oddly enough, DS was nicknamed Cub when he was little, but he isn't very wolf like, more puppy like! DD...I think she's beautiful like a lily but she isn't very flowerlike.

Shodan · 19/06/2014 21:59

Olive tree

To defend/man warrior

Erm... DS1 is nothing like an olive tree. Ds2 may well end up being a man warrior, but he's only 6.5 so there's a bit of time to wait...

TodaysAGoodDay · 19/06/2014 22:03

Gift of God.
Although sometimes he acts like spawn of the devil...

TodaysAGoodDay · 19/06/2014 22:07

But most of the time he's wonderful Smile

Singlesuzie · 19/06/2014 22:14

Ds's means crooked nose. Luckily he doesn't live up to it! The original meaning is not crooked nose anyway, I think it's crooked hill or rock face or something.

Oh i remember coming across this meaning when looking for ds2's name. I cant remember the name but am i right in thinking it is an irish name? I think it was one i liked but due to the meaning and a family propensity to crooked noses i thought it best avoided Grin

WhispersOfWickedness · 19/06/2014 22:15

DS - Rest Hmm
Umm, since he's a busy 4yo, he doesn't often live up to his name at the moment!
DD has a flower name, which also means pink in a number of European countries, she does like flowers and pink (although she is only two Grin)

TheBookofRuth · 19/06/2014 22:17

Life Rebel.

Yep, pretty much sums up DD!

DramaAlpaca · 19/06/2014 22:17

DS3's middle name means 'God has added another son'.

So that's why I chose it Smile

rootypig · 19/06/2014 22:19

Alive.

Which is bittersweet as she is named for my beautiful aunt, who left us too soon.

Maybe it can mean that everything lives on...

weyayechickenpie · 19/06/2014 22:23

Dds name is Freya norse goddess of love, beauty and fertility . She is an absolute monster child but she is very beautiful.

JadziaSnax · 19/06/2014 22:30

DS - gift from god. Definitely right as we were told that we'd be unlikely to have children naturally.
DD - wisdom. She's a toddler so not accurate yet Grin

Tangfasticlady · 19/06/2014 22:31

DS - he who laughs.
DD - lame or persevering.
