Billy or Eddie?

We still don't have a name for our newborn DS. I prefer Eddie but DP prefers Billy.
DP also likes Ryan, Liam and Leo although I don't want a name in the top 20ish names.
I love Herbie but DP hates it.

Help!

Eddie!! I have a friend called Eddie... My LOVE

BlueStarsAtNight · 19/06/2014 19:23

Billy

Nereida · 20/06/2014 00:26

Billy but I prefer it as a nickname for William.

rachel234 · 20/06/2014 06:34

I prefer Edward nickname Ed or Eddie.

Billie isn't nice at all imo. Also, wouldn't it be short for Billiam (and Willie short for William Wink)

BabyShake · 20/06/2014 07:28

Eddie!

Hakluyt · 20/06/2014 07:31

Edward- then you have loads of nickname opportunities. Or William- ditto.

sonlypuppyfat · 20/06/2014 07:33

William and Edward then he can pick his own nickname.

squoosh · 20/06/2014 11:49

Eddie.

BeckaH123 · 20/06/2014 12:45

William and Edward then he can pick his own nickname.

As above and congratulations! Smile

Eddie

I have an Eddie! He's awesome. He can be Ed or Edward later if he wants, and some of my family call him Ted, after my grandfather.

pancakesfortea · 09/07/2014 22:56

My Eddie was born in 2008 when Edward barely made it into the top 100 names. But there were three of them in his tiny nursery! Haven't met once since though.

MrsCosmopilite · 09/07/2014 23:01

I don't mind either as nicknames, but as given names they can be a bit limiting.

I know a Billy. He hates it now he's a teen.

rattyboombatty · 10/07/2014 11:59

William nn Billy

bonkersLFDT20 · 10/07/2014 12:05

I have an Edward. He's brilliant!

EmmaGellerGreen · 10/07/2014 13:03

Either William or Edward are great. A nick name will emerge over time or not.

basgetti · 10/07/2014 13:07

I have an Eddie (Edward) born in 2008 too. Never encountered another one at nursery or school. So I may be biased but it's Eddie for me!

Biscuitsneeded · 10/07/2014 13:10

Both lovely. I personally don't like Ryan and Liam, but those are probably only bad associations!

Wishfulmakeupping · 11/07/2014 17:18

Billy

Wishfulmakeupping · 11/07/2014 17:19

Actually meant to add I really like just Bill for a little boy I think that's sweet either way I would use William on the birth certificate

gymboywalton · 11/07/2014 17:26

william or edward are both fabulous names.

please don't do billy or edddie as given names- give them a choice when they're older!

pinkfairy84 · 11/07/2014 17:31

I was thinking Edward for my son but Ed Milliband has ruined it for me.... I like Billy!

EyeMyrrhSlapHer · 12/07/2014 13:05

Eddie - love it but couldn't use it !

Michonne · 12/07/2014 20:20

Eddie is great, but I think I would use Edward officially.
