I like Nancy best.

I think Nancy Rose sounds better though

weebarra · 19/06/2014 10:47

They are all nice names individually but I personally don't like hyphenated names.

Singlesuzie · 19/06/2014 10:51

None of them. They are not good combinations for hyphenated names. Tilly-anne is particularly painful.

LaurieFairyCake · 19/06/2014 10:54

Lola rose is a jewellery maker

And none of them if you are having hyphenated. If it's first and middle they're all passable.

Stepawayfromthezebras · 19/06/2014 10:55

Lola Rose is the name of a jewellery brand

Stepawayfromthezebras · 19/06/2014 10:56

I like Tilly & Lola.

I'm not a fan of hyphenated names or unusual spellings though, so would probably go for May or Rose as a separate middle name.

Tilly Rose
Lola May

Congratulations!

squoosh · 19/06/2014 10:57

I like Nancy best but don't like Nancy-Mai, it sounds like the name of a country bumpkin from Alabama who is getting married to her first cousin Billy-Bob.

Just pick one nice name and stick the other bits in as middle names.

Youdontneedacriminallawyer · 19/06/2014 11:02

If you're going to go with Nancy, use May, and not Mai, which isn't a name. And like the others have said - don't hyphenate!

And if you insist on hyphenating, every other hyphenated name ends with either -May or -Rose.

I like Nancy and Tilly, Lola sounds a bit like a prostitute's name to me (sorry all Lolas out there).

foolishpeach · 19/06/2014 11:04

Nancy Anne.

Please don't hyphenate - it is awful.

DuchessFanny · 19/06/2014 11:10

I agree with whoever up thread said Nancy Rose is nicer, also agree with pp to not have it hyphenated.

WaffleWiffle · 19/06/2014 11:13

Tillyanne (one word) is OK. I'm also not a fan of hyphenating and don't like the Mai spelling when you mean May.

Notso · 19/06/2014 11:14

Mai is a welsh name and I think it is supposed to be pronounced My.

I love Nancy and Tilly but am not certain I would like to be called Tilly as an adult though I guess you would just be used to it.

Lola is nice but I know too many.

Please reconsider the hyphen, it is really very naff and most of the people I know with a hyphenated name just use one or the other. My SIL regrets giving her DD one and she's only one.

Rose, May and Anne are lovely names but nearly every girl born seems to have them as a middle name. Last year we knew 7 babies born, 6 girls, 3 had May/Mae/Mai as a middle name one had Rose May, one had Annie Rose the other had Grace which is equally popular. It's just a bit boring.

Youdontneedacriminallawyer · 19/06/2014 11:14

Oh Waffle Tillyanne is worse than all of them! I hate made up names!

I quite like Nancy Anne actually.

BeyondBurma · 19/06/2014 11:14

It was all over years ago that hyphenating of names.

Sounds like you're on set with The Waltons.

Sorry but all the Tilly's, Lola's, Mai's have been done to death too.

BeyondBurma · 19/06/2014 11:15

Sorry forgot to say congratulations!

Youdontneedacriminallawyer · 19/06/2014 11:15

And Notso - you're right about Mai being Welsh, and the pronunciation (My).

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 19/06/2014 11:16

Really? bites tongue

Nice and diplomatic answer - hyphenated names are dated. They will go out of fashion and they already sound old fashioned IMO.
Also, they are cutesy little girl names that sound like nicknames. It's much kinder to give your daughter a name that will carry her into adulthood.
Also - anything - Mai is just awful. Really, really awful. Also anything - rose is pretty cliched.

Lola isn't lovely IMO. Nancy is really nice and Tilly is fine.

Singlesuzie · 19/06/2014 11:18

We have a local clown called silly tilly. Tilly is now and forever will be a clown's name to me Grin

HesterShaw · 19/06/2014 11:20

What the others said.

Congratulations on your baby girl but please for her sake, at least lose the hyphen.

confusedgirlfromtheShire · 19/06/2014 11:21

I now judge all names by the following, which some insightful person on here once said (sorry, not sure who):

Names should be "cute above a coat peg, credible in a boardroom".

Notso · 19/06/2014 11:22

Thanks for confirming that Youdontneedacriminallawyer it has been a while since I did Welsh at school!

Lola Anne sounds the nicest to me but I too would say it sounds better as just a middle name.

I'm not bothered by any supposed misspelling but then I'm not up myself as some are.

I like Tilly but I can't imagine talking to a 50 year old Tilly.

Completely up to you though as beauty lies in the eyes of the namer here :)
