Why did you spell it Baylee rather than Bailey out of interest?

Robynbaylee · 20/06/2014 10:42

I do have a Baylee everyone that meets him loves his name and it suits him perfectly :)

Oh spelt it Baylee as a lot of people I know associated Bailey with a girl. I love it for a boy and feel it is more boyish spelt Baylee :)

Oh gosh - don't ever look at the Urban Dictionary's definition of Baylee Sad

Singlesuzie · 20/06/2014 10:46

I actually thought baylee was because your child was a girl! The spelling seems more 'cutesy' and girly to me.

Robynbaylee · 20/06/2014 10:48

Haha I know on there all baileys no matter how they are spelt are about girls lol

Congratulations OP! I hope you're not too upset by these rude comments. I think your name choices are pretty nd it's up to you if you like hyphenated names. Your little girl might choose to use a shortened version when she is older though so maybe pick one where you like the first name on its own too. I don't see why the fact that a name is popular makes it such a no-go choice, especially for a middle name. Naming a child isn't an exam in creativity. Surely something you like that isn't going to be a millstone round your child's neck is what you should be aiming for?

I would also point out that 99.99% of people will say that a baby's name is lovely and wonderful to your face, but some of them may not be privately thinking it.

I would just advise thinking of your child when she is an adult woman, and choose a name that will suit her then as well as now, or a name that can be flexible e.g. shortened, nickname etc.

ViviPru · 20/06/2014 11:29

Nancy Anne is lovely. Glad to hear you're planning to drop the hyphen!

molly84 · 20/06/2014 11:40

I agree really like Nancy Anne.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 20/06/2014 13:13

I've never heard of Bailey being a girl's name - all of the little Bailey's around here are boys Grin.

burgatroyd · 20/06/2014 13:55

But Nancy is a diminutive of Ann... So that would be a little repetitive.

Nereida · 20/06/2014 18:38

Yes, Nancy is a diminutive of Anne so they're pretty much the same name. Nancy Rose would be much better.

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/06/2014 19:37

Nancy is very nice but as others have said - it is a diminutive of Anne.

Nancy Anne would be like Ellie Eleanor.

Sidthesausage · 20/06/2014 20:42

Nancy may

PenguinsHatchedAnEgg · 20/06/2014 21:34

Not keen on Lola. I mean, it's a perfectly ok name, but there are lots of them and Baylee and Lola, automatically makes me think 'Charlie and Lola' , though that may just be me.

Nancy is nice. Tilly is ok.

If I'm allowed to mix up the groupings I would go Nancy Rose. Matilda Anne (nn Tilly) is nice too.

CPtart · 20/06/2014 21:46

All dreadful names, sorry. I mean Tilly, wtf?
Have a rethink... And congratulations!

MajesticWhine · 20/06/2014 21:53

Those first names are all quite nice. Don't hyphenate though. And don't use Rose as a middle name, it's ever so over done. (just offended approximately 50% of the population)

Droflove · 21/06/2014 11:51

Really don't like double names. Feel tacky/trailer trashy to me. Sorry. Most of the names as individual names are nice though.

burgatroyd · 21/06/2014 12:04

My mother has a good friend, prob in her sixties, who is a Tilly. Always thought this name was IDD as a child. Now its everywhere. Pointless comment from me.

There's another thread now questioning whether Jesse is too feminine. Nothing wrong bailee for girl or boy. Perhaps in 20 years Elliot will be more of a girls name. Just like Jordan and Esme before.

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/06/2014 12:27

Esme was a male name previously? I did not know that before!

NewtRipley · 21/06/2014 18:41

Nancy

BlackberryandNettle · 22/06/2014 15:21

Lola, Rose, Nancy and Anne are all nice. Wouldn't hypenate any of them or use Tilly as a proper name as I think all would sound v twee on an adult.
