Really not to my taste, sorry! It sounds quite American/Australian surfer type name.

If you both love it though then go for it!

DogCalledRudis · 16/06/2014 11:04

Sounds nice

lilmisslibrarian · 16/06/2014 11:33

I really like it. It's not one that I've heard a lot where I live plus I loved the band Travis too Smile

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 16/06/2014 11:36

I always thought of it as a Scottish name but that probably comes from the band. Turns out its French in origin.

I think of Travis Bickle.

MuttonCadet · 16/06/2014 11:53

It sounds American to me as well, but I don't know why.....

If you both like it then go for it.

NigellasDealer · 16/06/2014 11:54

Bickle or Perkins

HilariousInHindsight · 16/06/2014 12:06

I don't mind Travis.

I know a 13 year old Travis who is quite loud but sensitive and funny.

rachel234 · 16/06/2014 14:27

You see, as most of us don't know a Travis, we all have pre-conceived associations, but of course once people meet your lovely son Travis, then he is what they will think of when they see/hear Travis. In other words, peoples' associations change instantly once they meet a person with a certain name.

I think it is a great name, actually. Strong, cool, easy to spell and pronounce, not overused. What's not to like?

Nereida · 16/06/2014 14:59

I'm not keen, I went to school with a disruptive, loud and annoying Travis. Of course, not all Travises will be like that, but it has those associations for me!

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 16/06/2014 15:08

Bickle.

Trav rhymes with Lav, bt that's the only 'negative' I can think of

It's nice & unusual (did think of the band just after Bickle though)!

Youdontneedacriminallawyer · 16/06/2014 15:10

Makes me think of Dave Lee - but I wouldn't like it even if it didn't.

Might be OK if you're American trailer trash :(

BeckaH123 · 16/06/2014 15:53

Yeah go for it if you like it! Depending where you live though it might not work with certain British accents IMO. Where I live there are some quite distinctive accents and I can't imagine it working somehow.

RAFWife12 · 16/06/2014 20:39

I like it, but wouldn't use it on my own son. It's different without being too "out there" i think. And the name of drummer of one of my favourite bands as a teenager! Grin

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 16/06/2014 20:42

"American Trailer Trash"....nice.

manicinsomniac · 17/06/2014 14:28

I like it.

I used to love the band as a teenager. I always thought it was Scottish too. It really doesn't sound French Confused I wonder if it's supposed to be pronounced Trave-ee (like Louis)? Trav-iss is much nicer though, even if it is wrong!

Youdontneedacriminallawyer · 17/06/2014 14:47

No, not nice. That's my point.

florascotia · 17/06/2014 15:09

It's not Scottish but American with distant French origins. And not 'Travee'; comes from surname of a Texan general named Travis. Surname Travis is a variant of Travers, which comes from French verb 'traverser' = to go across.

all the above from www.behindthename.com/name/travis

KatieKaye · 17/06/2014 15:10

Dave Lee

MelanieCheeks · 17/06/2014 15:15

It's the name of my car.....

squoosh · 17/06/2014 15:57

I don't love it but can imagine a Travis being the boy at school who all the girls swoon over.
