Would be known as Millie, but full name Camilla.

Thanks

Personally I like Camilla as a name, though would choose Camille if I ever got a chance to choose.
I like CPB too. She has some fabulous hats!

losingmybelt · 16/06/2014 22:12

Now that's a picture guaranteed to give me nightmares -
Pickled in gin.... and the best medical care known to man - No wonder they live so long.
(but that's another topic for another time)

losingmybelt · 16/06/2014 22:13

Rivertam, typo. Meant 90!

ToffeeMoon · 18/06/2014 02:20

It's the ultimate try-hard name. It's so pointedly "aren't we posh?" that I think only aspiring poshos would touch it. Rather than the real deal, iykwim.

Btw, whoever said about the names Charles, William, George etc not being rejected for being "royal"...that's because they are very run of the mill names that are never out of the top 10/20 and we all know lots of them. By contrast, for most people, the only Camilla they know of is CPB or characters in jolly hockey sticks schoolgirl books.

I know two baby Camillas.

One has a sister called.....Diana!

mathanxiety · 18/06/2014 02:39

Well... fwiw, I like Camilla and also Milla as a nn.

I knew two Camillas in school in Ireland in the 70s, one known as Millie and one Millzandboon. Back in my innocent youth I was a little surprised to see it used in England too (by CPB).

HowsTheSerenity · 18/06/2014 02:43

It's my DM's name and my middle name. Don't know any others.

HerRoyalNotness · 18/06/2014 03:29

Camilla is great and yes Mila as nn is what I'd go for

RolloRollo · 18/06/2014 10:37

Could use 'Milla' instead of Millie.
But I like it and know quite a few 21 year old Camillas (DDs friends) who are all lovely. They are known as Millie, Milla, Camilla, Mills.

RolloRollo · 18/06/2014 10:38

Another option is Millicent which I love as a full name (Although would always shorten so works well if you are going to use Millie)

ChickenMe · 18/06/2014 15:53

Personally I find the name a bit airy and inconsequential. It's too light. I prefer Camille which I think is a bit stronger. I also like Camelia which also has a more assertive sound and is a nice plant. Millie I like but way overused. Ditto Tilly. I also like Tansy, again a lovely plant but I understand it was an abortifacient? (Sorry gone a bit OT but thinking of similar sounds).

HibiscusIsland · 18/06/2014 20:36

I'm surprised at how overused people think Millie is. I don't know of any, even though my children go to a school that is teaming with Mollys, Lillys, Hollys, Maisies etc. I like Millie

DanyStormborn · 20/06/2014 22:33

Camilla is a lovely name and Millie is cute.

MrsPatMustard · 22/06/2014 21:28

Camilla = Parker-Bowles, I'm afraid. Produces immediate images of horsey looking women in pearls and tweed...

molly84 · 31/03/2015 17:15

After this heated thread back in June thought I'd update you....we decided against the name Camilla, and were going to go with Iona. However, we had a gorgeous little boy. His name is Oliver and suits him perfectly??xx

Congratulations Flowers

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 03/04/2015 11:55

Makes me think of Camilla Parker Bowles. Don't like it sorry. Very harsh. However. That's not s problem if she is going to be known as Millie, so I'd still use it.

MaraThonbar · 03/04/2015 22:50

Congratulations, Molly.

Lighthouse - read the update!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 03/04/2015 22:55

Bit rude Mara. Tbh.
Congratulations Molly

applecatchers36 · 03/04/2015 22:59

V horsey. Would expect her to be a fully paid up member of the pony club.

MaraThonbar · 03/04/2015 23:03

No, 'RTFT' is rude. Sorry to offend.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 03/04/2015 23:08

No apology needed Mara. Just having a taking things the wrong wAy moment

aFirmGrip · 04/04/2015 01:04

Oh that's lovely, Oliver is a very good name.

The only baby Camilla I know atm is the daughter of a...Charles. Isn't that odd? Confused
