Hey so my hubby and I thought we had our name decided Kristian Henry F (likely to shorten to Kit) but then I drastically changed my mind, and really don't like Kristian or Christian at all!

So here are our other two faves, one is possibly going to up set certain family members, but as they are my hubby's family I don't really mind too much hahaha

James Martin F (Martin is hubby's father-parents had bitter bitter divorce)
Henry Michael F (Michael is my late father)

Really stuck on what to do, I'm certain MIL will be a bit upset with use of her ex hubby's name, they do not get on at all, she has always questioned his parenting skills, and whilst I think it's very silly, I also don't want to upset her because she is a wonderful MIL.

What do. You. Guys. Think!?

I prefer Henry to James but why don't you use Michael as the middle name regardless which first name you go for? ..personally think it's much nicer than Martin and it would avoid any issues with your mil.

AMI88 · 04/06/2014 11:05

I think you are prob right, although I do love the sound of James Martin together!

It will be much simpler if baby turns out to be a girl! X

I prefer Michael too. I have relatives with all your names and the only one I really don't like is Martin. If you like James and Michael can't you forget about Martin and therefore eliminate the possibility that you'll upsetting MIL?

  • Disclaimer: it's the name I don't like, not the relative! Ha!

James Martin reminds me of the celebrity chef.

AMI88 · 04/06/2014 11:20

Haha!

I must admit, as much as I love my dad, I don't love his name, but as he passed away just before I found out I was pregnant, there is a bit of pressure to use the name Michael as MN. I'm not particularly in love with the name Michael, and I would only use it if it sounded right with the first name, and I think it sounds good with Henry.

It's just so political name choosing!!

Would it be too much to have two middle names, I think Henry James Michael works quite well, could be known as Henry James but would be remembering your father as well.

WhispersOfWickedness · 05/06/2014 19:36

Henry Michael is my vote, I love the name Henry (couldn't use it as was a significant ex boyfriend's name Blush) and Michael is a lovely way of honouring your dad Smile

riskit4abiskit · 06/06/2014 19:46

Lots of baby Henry's in the nw.

would you mind james being shortened to jim?

AMI88 · 07/06/2014 15:09

Hey riskit- yes I think I would mind james becoming jim, not at all a fan of jim.

I'm not too bothered about a names popularity, I wouldn't strike a name off for that reason alone. Interestingly I am in London, there are a few Henrys, but not as many as Stanley, Frank, and Alfred.
