I love Miranda

soontobeslendergirl · 01/06/2014 18:54

Miranda by a mile.

Kantha · 01/06/2014 19:00

Miranda definitely.

Cardinal · 01/06/2014 19:02

Cecilia. Miranda strikes me a Middle Aged and frumpy - both Miranda hart and Hobbes spring to mind.

Hoolit · 01/06/2014 19:04

Cecilia is lovely as is nn Cece should you need one.
Miranda I just don't like.
Would like to know your other dc names if you don't mind sharing?

BackforGood · 01/06/2014 19:06

Cecelia has me singing along to Simon and Garfunkel

I'm afraid Miranda has rather been taken over by Miranda Hart being so in your face recently.

DramaAlpaca · 01/06/2014 19:09

I love both but have a slight preference for Cecilia. It's a little more unusual & doesn't have the Miranda Hart connotations. Ceci is such a cute nickname.

RAFWife12 · 01/06/2014 19:11

Out of those two I would go with Cecelia.
Miranda is a nice name, but I just can't imagine a baby/child/teenager with that name. Whereas Cecelia seems to work better with every age.

thatwhichwecallarose · 01/06/2014 19:19

Love cecelia, hate Miranda (sorry!)

Watercolourfootballs · 01/06/2014 19:21

both nice but I personally prefer Cecelia too.

Bowlersarm · 01/06/2014 19:24

Cecelia

oldbutnotpastit · 01/06/2014 19:26

So which one fits better with the above names or have we missed something that would work although I think we've exhausted the name books /websites /blogs in our search for the name

My niece is Miranda- she's always called Mira.

manicinsomniac · 01/06/2014 19:30

Both would work well with your other names and both are lovely.

I much prefer Miranda though, it's gorgeous. And I'm always surprised by how rare it is (not top 1000 I don't think). I know 2 little Mirandas, one is 6 and one is 8. I don't know any Cecilias.

What's the age range of your children if it's not rude to ask? I can imagine you've got a very full plate! All the best with birth of number 10.

soontobeslendergirl · 01/06/2014 19:30

Miranda does better, also Marissa would be nice?

soontobeslendergirl · 01/06/2014 19:30

not "does", goes!

oldbutnotpastit · 01/06/2014 19:34

Eldest DC is early twenties youngest is 4. This was definitely the I thought I was past it baby ,hence my user name .

manicinsomniac · 01/06/2014 19:36

Wow. I'm sure you're not past it! You'll be fine.

SquallyShowers · 01/06/2014 19:38

Both nice. Prefer Cecilia.

meditrina · 01/06/2014 19:41

Both lovely.

I think I'd go for Miranda.

lucidlady · 01/06/2014 19:43

Cecilia for me - the Cecilia I know is one of the strongest, brightest most amazing people I've ever met.

oldbutnotpastit · 01/06/2014 19:45

Dh prefers one , I prefer the other although we could both live with either .neither of us actively despises the others preference and we haven't been able to find a compromise name that we both like .
My feelings are I prefer the meaning of Miranda, miranda hart connection is a minor irritation but not a deal breaker.I also like the Shakespearean connection .
Prefer the sound and feel of Cecilia and like the Simon and Garfunkel connection.ablso feel it seems to fit a wider age range and maybe feels less haughty than miranda
Mns will probably be Winifred rosemary/Rosanna
