Hello

Our surname ends in "ley".

I am struggling to find any girls names I like. Would like something quite "strong" sounding.

So far I like:

Sylvia - great aunt who was a badasss in her times. But is it a bit grannyish?
Julia - all the ones I know are cool plus love the John Lennon song (although it is about his dead mum )
Sanchia- one of the reporters on the today programme, but is it too odd? And we are not Spanish. At all.

I really don't like cutesy names. Would like something not too popular.

Name needs to not sound too horrific in broad Geordie or Scouse accent.

So - if anyone has any suggestions fire away! Feel free to mock my suggestions.

Sylvia is nice! How about Hazel? Anya? Ziva? Una? Reva?

Topsyloulou · 27/05/2014 22:50

Love Sylvia. Someone else suggested Iona which was on my girls list after it came to me in a dream now having a boy so can't use it. Someone on another thread suggested Ramona as a strong girls name but not sure it sounds that great with a scouse accent.

Sykvia - lovely name - not old fashioned, I think it is returning as quite a cool name. got a good sound; strong, feminine, has the a sound - what's not to like?!!

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 28/05/2014 12:30

Two actresses spring to mind,
Famke, and Olympia.

But the three names you suggest are great.

daphnehoneybutt · 28/05/2014 13:18

Wow thanks for all the suggestions. Lots of lovely names to consider here : )

I shall ambush DH with all these to find some names we can agree on.
