Silent lurker for about three months, but never posted before.

Four days ago I gave birth to our gorgeous DD. She really is a glorious little babe! Inbetween waiting for the whole world to fall out of my fanjo, for, despite the 12 stitches that feels like what is going to happen, salt baths and twice hourly breastfeeding sessions, we need to think of a name for our beautiful girl.

From 21 weeks, we thought I was giving birth to a Thea Eloise, but she is definitely not. Neither is she a Romilly Alice. Or a Madeleine. Ditto Phoebe. Confused

She is however, a glorious little babe, have I mentioned that already? All pouty lips, button nose, dark hair and big blue eyes. swoon And despite being a breast milk ninja, she has stolen our hearts already.

I have a strong suspicion she could be a Polly Alice, but DP is concerned that mil some people may think its a silly, indulgent name. (Not mil bashing, for the most part, she is great, but a dreadful snob!)

So, what I need from you are your best suggestions for a beautifully vintage, old fashioned or even slightly twee name. Out of the top twenty would be the ideal remit, but not a deal breaker.

Thank you so much in advance :)

ILoveCoreyHaim · 14/05/2014 01:56

I also have a Romilly Smile

peggyblackett · 14/05/2014 04:30

We almost had a Romilly, love the name.

I adore Ramona, and what about Rosalind?

Benchmark · 14/05/2014 08:24

I much prefer Thea to Polly.
I love Posy

Daisy
Hazel
Mabel
Martha
I like Cecily, but I think you might regret not using Thea.

BumpNGrind · 14/05/2014 08:38

How about Aubrey or Emmeline? Emmeline Alice sounds lovely to me.

PunkAssMoFo · 14/05/2014 09:08

Live Josephine (nn's josie or posy)
If u used Dorothea nn's could be thea, dotty or dolly
Romilly & cecilia are lovely too.

The other suggestions I think suit your description:
Ramona
Clara
Juliette
Corinne
Helena
Margot
Margarette (daisy or maggie)
Nancy
Sylvie
Dolores (dolly)
Cora (means dark warrior)
Selena
Melody
Elodie

Wow, this thread has grown and grown. Thank you all for the gorgeous names you have suggested. I think because our girl was so long in the making and will be an only child we have over thought this and got really stressed about it.

To the poster who suggested that perhaps Thea wasn't 'cutesy' enough, I think you were absolutely right! Thea is such a grown up name.

I have been calling her Button since we found out I was pg and have been since she was born. We took her out in her pram today (literally just half a mile walk in the sunshine) and were stopped by a little old lady who asked what her name was. Without thinking I said 'Thea'. The lady said was a gorgeous name it was and how much it suited her. Ridiculously, this seems to have made our minds up.

However, we have added an extra MN to honour our mothers who both have the same name - Jane.

So we are the proud parents to a (Drumroll) Thea Eloise Jane .....

I am beaming as I type that. It is definitely the name for our little Button.

Sorry to seem so indecisive and once again thank you to all... the names suggested have made me wish I could have ten more! :)

On another note, I got a five (count them) hour stretch of sleep last night and feel like a brand new woman!

Ooh that's lovely Thanks

UriGeller · 14/05/2014 14:08

Gorgeous name. Congratulations!

Our DD has quite a grown up name but we've managed to condense it into a silly little nickname she can be embarrassed about when she's older. Mostly we call her Sausage though Grin

emmeline7725 · 14/05/2014 14:38

I have a beautiful Thea Florence asleep in my arms right now. It's a lovely name. Congratulations on your baby girl.

adaloveslace · 14/05/2014 14:42
