What are your thoughts please. We have 2 girls and two boys names. Which are nicer?
Charlotte or Aurelia
Noah or Ben
Thanks in advance

Love your girls' names!

Find the boys names dull and overused in comparison.

Charlotte and Noah

But all 4 are lovely

Allalonenow · 12/05/2014 00:13

Aurelia is lovely, and Charlotte is pretty too.

I think Noah is trying just a bit too hard, and Ben is the diminutive of Benjamin.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 12/05/2014 00:25

Charlotte is incredibly popular around here, which would put me off a little. I don't think Noah or Ben are overused at all - certainly not in this area for new babies (there are a lot of 12+ Bens though).

My choice would be Aurelia or Noah.

Nunyabiz · 12/05/2014 00:41

Aurelia. We would have used it for DD2 were it not so similar to Dd1's name.
I used to love Charlotte back in the day when Charlotte Church was 'the voice of an angel' I thought it was sooo classy (teenage me) so I named my cat Charlotte. My nan used to call her Charlotte the Harlot Hmm to be fair she was a bit of a tramp cat.

As for Ben and Noah. I know so many Noah's (including a nephew) and although it's a nice name it is very very common. Ben was the name of a kid who used to bully me but I suppose it's ok if you are going for a 'Sam, Tom, Ben, Tim' kind of name. A bit 'meh'.

Aurelia and Charlotte are both beautiful, elegant girls names. Aurelia is slightly less widely used and if it works with your surname, perhaps choose that?

Agree that both Ben and Noah are quite dull in comparison - but if you like them, then why not? Do you have a common surname, in which case, perhaps you might want a less overused first name?

I feel like the names pair up like this:

Charlotte and Ben - perpetually popular classic names but probably had a peak in usage about ten years ago.

Aurelia and Noah - more trendy and of the moment. Certainly Noah is pretty popular as others have said, I wouldn't choose it if you hope it will be unusual. Not sure how many Aurelias there are about though. I think I know one, but I am always muddled about her actual name Blush.

I prefer Charlotte and Ben, if only because they are less likely to date in the way Aurelia and Noah might.

ToffeeJungle · 12/05/2014 13:17

Charlotte and Noah.

Montsti · 12/05/2014 14:15

Charlotte and Benjamin (Sorry Ben seems unfinished to me).

Fwiw I know more Bens/Benjamins than Charlottes! I have a Charlotte and my nephew is Ben (pretty irritated as he was born before DS and Benjamin was one of our favourites)!

Lots of food for thought. Thank you so much for your contributions. I'll just have to have 4 kids as can't decide x
