Yay. Only ever taught one in 25 years and she was lovely!

alita7 · 11/05/2014 16:12

OublietteBravo · 11/05/2014 17:53

I quite like it - I know a Cyrena (pronounced si-ren-ah) which I like too.

burgatroyd · 11/05/2014 18:59

Beautiful name. Know one and she is brill!

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 11/05/2014 19:02

Yes, beautiful, barely used but most people will know how to say / spell it.

Kantha · 11/05/2014 19:48

Yes I like it too. I have been mulling over which I prefer, Serena or Selina?

minipie · 11/05/2014 20:01

I really like it - but worry it would be tempting fate and I'd get a very non serene baby!

MikeTheShite · 11/05/2014 20:02

I know three Serenas and they are all in different parts of the world but all jaw droppingly beautiful

Nowitscleanugobshite · 11/05/2014 20:14

I know where you're coming from minipie ! But at least a sleeping baby always looks serene! And it's not quite as "fate tempting" as Chastity or Patience! Those Puritans really went out on a limb!!

littlegreengloworm · 11/05/2014 20:15

Great name - haven't heard it for a long time but its lovely

PunkAssMoFo · 11/05/2014 20:34

Yay!

CPtart · 11/05/2014 20:40

Yay. I know one in her fifties.

EagleRay · 11/05/2014 20:55

DD has Sirena as her middle name, which is Spanish for mermaid. Did consider it as a first name but knew it would be endlessly mis-spelt!

AuntieStella · 11/05/2014 21:03

It's lovely.

I always think of the hare in "A Little White Horse" which was one of my absolute favourite books as a girl.

spottymog · 12/05/2014 07:13

kantha I like Selina as it has the potential nn of Lina which I like but prefer the sound of Serena. However our surname is water related (think pond) so dh thinks it wouldn't work as it'd be like description rather than a name.

I can see the dilemma you've got there Spottymog. I'm lucky, the only downside of our surname that it is shared with a famous women's prison.
