How would you pronounce this name? It is Victorian.

I would say Fran seen a. Rhymes with Thomasina.

I haven't heard the name before. Not sure whether it should be Fran-senior or Fran-sen-ear.

However it should be said, anyone with the name would be in for a lifetime of mispronunciation and/or having to correct people.

Do you like Frances or Francine? Although not common, they are well known enough for people to know how to pronounce them.

Fran-seen-ia

Never heard of it before. Sounds a bit like 'fancy seeing you'.

There are nicer names.

Solasum · 09/05/2014 15:20

Interesting, thank you. I read it as 'Fran-chen-ia' .

A bit unusual I agree. I am not planning on using it, just had never seen it before.

I'd read it as Fran-see-nee-a. (ie like Frances with a frilly bit on the end)

manicinsomniac · 09/05/2014 17:35

Fran-senior I would have thought.
