First of all, yes I'm due in Winter Grin is it a bit mad? Summer and Autumn seem to be widely used! I think Winnie would be a sweet nn!

I love Winter too. How about Wren if you're not 100% sold?

peppinagiro · 08/05/2014 14:00

Winnie is awful. Just awful. It sounds like a whingimg, bedraggled old lady in crimplene with continence issues. Also my mum used to call me 'Winnie the witch' whenever I looked grubby or scruffy.

Winter is much nicer!

I usually disagree with the masses on baby name threads and have again. I think Winnie is sweet, not so sure about Winter (but don't like Summer or Autumn either)

skinmysunshine · 08/05/2014 14:20

I like both a lot but do think they are really different in tone.

I love Winter - I read this MM Kaye book when I was a teenager where the heroine was called Winter, and thought it was great. Sadly DD1 was born at the start of November so would have been an Autumn instead.

Just to update we won't be using Winter as a first name but possibly as a middle name. I have my heart set on Flora Juniper Winter but I have a little but if persuading to do on dh Grin but I have plenty of time anyway as not due until the first week in January!

Ooh, I love Juniper and Winter! Not as keen on Flora, but still very nice indeed.

atypicalwotsit · 08/05/2014 18:28

If you like Winnie as nn how about Winola?

Another winter inspired name could be Frostine, Tina or Fifi as nicknames?

Like Winnie and Winter.

atypicalwotsit · 08/05/2014 18:30

Love Juniper too, nick name Juni. Reminds me of Grimm. Agree with awomb, not keen on Flora at all. Been hearing it a lot recently.

skinmysunshine · 08/05/2014 19:11

Juniper is lovely. Maybe Juno as a nn

atypicalwotsit · 08/05/2014 19:27

Juniper with Ginny as a nn as gin's made from the berries? Too much?
