I have met a few people called Nimrod. Not sure why it's odd.

Nimrod is ok, and zamzam would be fine if you were Arabic surely. It's like someone in the uk calling child April

I think I quite like Zamzam, shall suggest it to DS and DiL for future DGC.

Nimrod = 'a mighty hunter' , a name from the Old Testament. Some traditions say he built the Tower of Babel. Also the name of a strike/reconnaissance aircraft, flown by RAF. And features in Elgar's Enigma Variations, of course.

ZamZam is a holy well or spring of water in the heart of Mecca, Arabia, visited by Muslims making the pilgrimage there.

Lucifer does mean light-bearer (also the planet Venus), but, according to some ancient Jewish traditions Lucifer was thrown out of heaven for refusing to defer to Adam. Christian traditions say that he was too full of pride and rebelled against God; they also identify him with Satan.
