Do I need to do anything legally to swap ds2's middle names around?

Ds2 has two middle names, the second one is much nicer and I wish we used it as his first name, If i just swap them around, do I nee to change his Birth Certificate (dh is anti changing his first name as we've already done it once)!

Reason I ask is I have two middle names, both crap and my name is always 'jane bob f smith' instead of jane bob fred smith on official stuff and it bugs me a little!

You can only change on the birth certificate once don't know if you have already or not x

Thankfully his name change was pre registering so hopefully it shouldn't be too much hassle!

Thanks Onion.

I did that too, changed DDs middle name pre registering then the first name after. We had the same three names in circulation, just struggled with the order! So you just change it over using a form if he's under 12 months, has he been baptised? X

He needs to be under year old. Old name remains on cert. New name at bottom under sec 17. When applying for passport and other official docs mention in notes to look at sec 17 otherwise they might overlook it. Also even if he is baptised he can still change as using middle name. Good
Luck

to change order of names you do need to legally change the name

if hes under 1 do it on birth certificate for free if not then get a deed poll

Thanks everyone! Gah, thought it would less work than that, damn my indecisiveness when it came to registering him!
