Willow and Flynn?

Expecting our first baby and not finding out the sex. We first came up with the names Harry and Evie (which I still really love) but are worried there will be five other Harry or Evies in the same class. We both agreed on Willow and Flynn, but just wondering if they're too 'way out'? Advice needed please!

PS What would their nicknames be, if any?

So Willow for a girl and Flynn for a boy? I like Willow for a girl, think it is nice. I don't think it's that 'way out' either. It's quite popular on here but I don't know where it ranks.

Flynn is ok. I don't think it's popular, but Finley/Findlay/Finlay is popular and often gets shortened to Fin, so you might find people will mishear the name and confuse it for Fin/lay.

I really like Harry, and Evie is pretty, although I find it gets lost amongst the Eves, Ava's and Eva's that are also popular, making it seem more popular than it is IYSWIM?

I know 1 willow and 2 flynn's under 5 so don't think they are 'way out'

DD is Willow. We get loads of compliments on her name Smile

Thank you for your opinions. No, I agree, not too way out I suppose. Noisytoys, does your DD get her name shortened (with or without your permission?). Yeah Flynn for a boy.

I like Flynn. I know two under 5 called Finn/Finley though so very similar.

I know three Willows, one boy and two girls. I must say I don't like it for a boy. Nice for a girl.

I think Willow or Harry.

I haven't heard of many Harrys under 18. But I was under the impression Flynn and Fin were popular.

But Evie is more popular than Willow though both are nice names :)

I love willow. Flynn is a surname to me

noisytoys · 26/04/2014 23:36

She doesn't get it shortened but pretty much everyone calls her Willow Pillow. My DF (her grandad) started it and she went to nursery age 2.2 thinking Willow Pillow was her name because that's what everyone has called her since day 1 Grin

Harry quite common name here
Evie is even more common - there are loads

Willow is lovely! and so is Flynn. Both easy to spell, no confusion -go for it!

Thank you! It's great to hear other people's thoughts as we're keeping the name a secret in 'real life'. Love Willow Pillow and that her Grandad thought that was her name!

I like Willow, and agree there will probably be a lot of Evie's and Harry's around.

Where I am there are lots of boys with "f" names including Fin, Finley, Freddie, Frankie, Ferdie and Flynn. I think that would put me off using Flynn. Although it is the most unusual of them all, it does sound so similar to Fin which is so popular.
