Me and partner both love the name (family all hate it!) But neither of us is keen on the masculine spelling Hadley, preferring the above. The 2 people (both men) I know with this name spell it with the -eigh ending, but Im concerned about ridicule!

If you have to ask, don't do it.

Dizzywhore · 22/04/2014 21:46

I live her a hadleigh. Never heard of it as a name before!

EmmaGellerGreen · 22/04/2014 21:46

I'm with your family on the name. Your proposed spelling is, um, horrid.

Dizzywhore · 22/04/2014 21:46

Near!

Theonlyoneiknow · 22/04/2014 21:49

Um, I think it is fine ?

Littlefish · 22/04/2014 21:50

I don't like your proposed spelling either. Hadley is nicer in my opinion.

Ledkr · 22/04/2014 21:52

Love it, spelt Hadley though

LynetteScavo · 22/04/2014 21:53

Do the two people you know called Hadleigh experience ridicule about their name?

I prefer the Hadley spelling, just because the leigh bit looks like the feminine version to me.

benjalamummy · 22/04/2014 21:54

I come from near Hadleigh in Suffolk - so to me it's a bit like Brooklyn Beckham :) Hadley seems more 'name-like', but probably only because Hadleigh is so familiar to me as a place name IYSWIM

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 22/04/2014 22:10

I quite like it, but much prefer Hadley.
I would assume Hadleigh was a girl I'm afraid

Martorana · 22/04/2014 22:36

Do you want him to sped his life saying "No, it's spelled -Leigh. No idea why- yes it is a pain in the neck....."?

DogCalledRudis · 23/04/2014 20:19

I dont like the spelling. Hadley so much nicer

MrsBonnie · 23/04/2014 20:47

I have a slight aversion to 'eigh' names, so prefer Hadley. Having said that, the children I know with the name Hadley are all girls (even though I see it as a masculine name).

squoosh · 23/04/2014 22:02

Please don't call the poor thing Hadleigh!

CorporateRockWhore · 23/04/2014 22:03

Hadley is not great. Hadleigh is awful. Sorry. Blush
