Talk to me about the name Felix. Do you think it's:

A) a name you like
B) a name you don't like
C) a cat's name

We can't quite decide!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LittleRedDinosaur · 18/04/2014 12:33

Like it lots!

rachel234 · 18/04/2014 13:54

Are you in the UK? It's a well known cat food brand, like Whiskas.

Theonlyoneiknow · 18/04/2014 15:10

B) & C) for me, sorry OP

Wishfulmakeupping · 18/04/2014 15:12

B and c for me too

singersgirl · 18/04/2014 15:14

It's very common where I live (SW London) and we know lots of Felixes. So though I know it's a cat food brand, I know far too many boys aged between 5 and 16 to think of that now.

squoosh · 18/04/2014 15:21

B and C.

C wouldn't deter me from choosing it if I liked it though.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 18/04/2014 18:33

A & C! Think it's lovely but the cat thing is difficult to get past.

Velvetbee · 18/04/2014 18:46

It's the name of a lovely, quirky 10 year old we know. Like it a lot .

Dollydots · 18/04/2014 18:55

C sorry, I just hear the jingle "cats like Felix like Felix".

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/04/2014 19:00

I hear cat too. Sorry

But, cats are cute, There are loads of names that have turned up on food brands so go for it if you like it :)

mydaftlass · 18/04/2014 19:02

Love it (even though our cat eats Felix)

generousfdudgy · 18/04/2014 19:07

A for me

yesnoyesnoyesno · 18/04/2014 19:37

I like it but I know 5 felixes., all toddler aged

dyslexicdespot · 18/04/2014 19:39

It's a very nice name for a little boy/man.

squoosh · 18/04/2014 19:42

I sounds quite childlike, I think that's why I don't like it.

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 18/04/2014 19:47

I wouldn't have chosen it, and it is a cat's name, but I know one and he's gorgeous.

DebbieOfMaddox · 18/04/2014 19:52

A. I know loads of them (there are a couple in DS's year at school, and a couple in DD1's year, and DD1 was at nursery with another, and DD2 is at nursery with yet another) so I don't think of it as cat-related at all these days. It's not as though you're naming a child Whiskas.

Varfalli34 · 18/04/2014 19:59

Its my DS name and I love it. We do get people saying about the cat thing but have also gotten packs of compliments on it. I picked it thinking it wasn't wildly common tjough and he is one of four felix's at his nursery. I still think it is a fantastic name, when DH and I thought f it we were both dead set. Trying to name the forthcoming DD at the moment and can't quite find the right thing.

Alisvolatpropiis · 18/04/2014 20:06

A but also C.

The brand of cat food doesn't help.

I do like it though!

ScrambledEggAndToast · 18/04/2014 20:06

Definitely a cat's name for me OP.

HolidayCriminal · 18/04/2014 20:08

Cute, I know one about 7yo.

squoosh · 18/04/2014 20:12

Aside from the cat food there's also the cartoon cat of the same name.

TransatlanticCityGirl · 18/04/2014 21:40

A and C. Notwithstanding the cat association, it's a name that has grown on me significantly these last few months and it's currently in our top 2, slightly above boring Benjamin. If we settle on Felix I might even call him 'the housecat' as a nn ;-)

nasara · 18/04/2014 22:16

Your replies have basically echoed our discussions. And to add to the negatives, I think it is one of those names where there'll be possibly more than one in each year group and I really want to avoid that as much as possible.

It's so hard to find a boys' name!

Oh well, it wasn't ideal with our last name anyway.

What are your other names op?

Is it the x in Felix you like?
