What are your thoughts on Niles?

Also open to other suggestions for DC3. Don't know the sex yet, but convinced it's a boy...

Thanks.

This is my only association with the name.

Niles?
NigellasDealer · 14/04/2014 11:05

Niall is a great name - sorry but the only association I have with Niles is 'im above

Wittsend13 · 14/04/2014 11:06

Niall is a lovely name.

StuffedOwl · 14/04/2014 11:13

Hmm, yes I thought Niles Crane might be mentioned. Is this a bad thing (will it be relevant to the child when he's older?). Don't like Niall so much, I prefer it with the "s" sound

I'd just assume you'd miss typed Miles.

I had a maiden name where changing the first letter gave you something much more common. In an alphabetic world, I was forever been told I didn't exist!

Martorana · 14/04/2014 11:51

Niall yes.
Miles yes
Niles no

WolfMoon · 14/04/2014 11:53

"Just for tonight, could you call me Niles?"
"You know Dr. Crane, I knew a boy once called Niles, and I called him Nile-y."
"...just for tonight, could you call me Niles?"

I love the name too OP, but this is what pops into my head everytime I think of it unfortunately.

florascotia · 14/04/2014 12:15

Sorry, I really don't want to criticise, but there is a danger that it might sound like (a) the mispronounciation or wrong spelling of Nils (b) ditto of Niall (c) ditto of Miles (d) plural of a very big river in Africa. You/your son might have to spend quite a bit of time explaining.

BeeKayP · 14/04/2014 14:50

Agree with Martorana...Niall and Miles are both nice (Especially like Miles). Niles..nooo

NannyPlumForPM · 14/04/2014 15:13

I quite like Myles spelt with a y

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 14/04/2014 15:18

I actually really like it but I have to agree that I associate it with Niles from Frasier as above and I do worry that people would assume it was Miles which is a shame as the more I say it out loud the more I want to add it to my boys name shortlist!
But I can just imagine saying Niles…as in Frasier's brother Sad

HavantGuard · 14/04/2014 17:18

Niels? As in Bohr?

DogCalledRudis · 14/04/2014 17:36
