My OH loves the welsh name Mali.........When I see the name all I can think of is the African country.....what does everyone think?

I know one aged about ten, a girl.
Not to my taste. Sounds like a region in Spain.

Theas18 · 10/04/2014 20:49

African country isn't it?

AmandinePoulain · 10/04/2014 20:51

What about Mabli instead?

SunnyL · 10/04/2014 21:00

Yep I think of the country but if it is any consolation its a beautiful country and name Wink

ha ha cheers for comments...I wish I could just think of it as a name but the country keeps springing out at me!!! I know its our decision but I don't want a name where other people are always saying "isn't that a country?!"

I know a few Mali's of various ages in S Wales. The name and the country are pronounced differently I think?

cuggles · 10/04/2014 21:26

I agree..name I have hears pronounces as 'Malli' and country more 'Marli'....I really like it, know a little welsh girl called it (I am not welsh), suits her.

RhondaJean · 10/04/2014 21:26

Is it the same as Maley or Malley?

yesnoyesnoyesno · 10/04/2014 21:31

Sali Mali?

Cwtchbach · 10/04/2014 22:07

Mali the name rhymes with Sally whereas I think the country sounds like Marley as in Bob (best way I can describe it)
