Struggling with girls names especially, but boys suggestions welcome too. Can anybody describe the type of names I like, or make similar-themed suggestions? Any favourites from my lists already?

I feel as though I need more ideas and a theme to Google.

Boys:

Amos
Clement
Conrad
Edgar
Laurence
Neville
Wallace

Girls:

Charis
Coral
Hillary
Mirabel
Vera

Definitely a slight 'vintage' feel. I know one boy with a name off you list with sisters named Eden and Tamar. A few other suggestions:
Walter
Frederick
Otis

Adelaide
Coralie
Pearl
Dorothea
Arabella

Have you looked at nymbler.com or nameberry.com? You can get suggestions of other names you might like based on the ones you already like?

Otto

Thanks everyone. Appreciate the vintage, though often searching that brings up frilly names which I really don't like.

Faves from the names suggested here are Walter, Diggory and Opal.

God, why is this so hard?

How about looking at name lists from the past? I'm thinking perhaps 1910 or so. Here is a list from the US that includes names with a similar vibe to your list. Here is another list of vintage names (again American).

Seems to be much harder to find UK lists from that era, but perhaps someone can link to ONS resources.

Brilliant idea, thank you!

I like Clement a lot.

They sound like 1920s American names to me!

Polonius · 08/04/2014 20:26

Yeah nomore, I feel very influenced by reading F. Scott Fitzgerald!
