Help me with a boys name as yet again we're at loggerheads with number 2 DC!
I like short snappy boys names that can't be shortened by others too much. Cant have anything beginning with 'W' or 'D'. Already have a Joe in the family.

So far
Seth (my fave!)
Luke
Zach (already know a few - is it overused?)
Joshua

DH likes
Samson (Sam)
Samuel (Sam)

Actually I love Seth - how can I persuade him?!!

Any ideas?!

Nate?

RayPurchase · 06/04/2014 20:24

Just use Seth! It goes really well.

Thatsnotmyfigure · 06/04/2014 20:26

Thank you! I love Seth. DH thinks it's a but wimpy and lispy ...
Nate - I never thought of that. Also Nat for Nathaniel I guess?

Ooh, I have a Theo, and really love Seth, too. However...!

Just say the two names out loud, as if you were calling to them in a park "Seth! Theo! Theo Seth!" Does it not sound like you have a lisp?! Or like you're doing an impression of that character in The Fast Show? Grin

If you like slightly different names, then personally I do think Luke, Zach and Josh are very popular. As is Sam.

Nate is nice, or Evan? Blake?

squoosh · 06/04/2014 20:27

Jude

Thatsnotmyfigure · 06/04/2014 20:31

I don't think DH will go for Jude :( I like it!
Slinky - I get what you mean about lispy and that's what's worrying me.
I really am hankering for something a bit unusual I suppose that isn't off the wall. I love 'J' and 'Z' names.
Josiah is nice but will get shortened to 'Jo' so that won't do. My brother is 'Hugh' so can't have.

My immediate reaction was Dolly, but that's no good for a boy...

Oliver?

Like Seth a lot.

SlinkyB · 06/04/2014 20:38

Haha, ds1 is Theo...and 11wk old ds2 is Elijah! I liked Eli when I was pg, but prefer his whole name now.

Speaking of Z names, what about Zane? I love it, but dh hated it and it doesn't go with our surname.

Never figured Seth as a wimpy name. I always saw if as a wild west cowboy name.

Elliot?

squoosh · 06/04/2014 21:37

I used to love the name Seth till I worked with an annoying one. He's really ruined the name for me.

Thatsnotmyfigure · 06/04/2014 22:02

Thanks everyone - lots of food for thought! Glad Seth is Wild West now!!

Zav? (Admittedly short for Xavier)

OutingMyselfToday · 06/04/2014 22:54

I like Zeph. Similar to Seth but much "stronger" IMO

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 06/04/2014 23:01

Seth is great, a pity it goes so badly with Theo!

That's not a deal breaker mind you..

Otis?
