We can't decide on a middle name for our daughter due in 4 weeks.

We are set on the first name Beatrice and have come up with a couple of middle names but can't decide:

Beatrice Florence
Beatrice Theodora
Beatrice Bella
Beatrice Ophelia

Opions and extra suggestings would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Helen

First of all, I think Beatrice is a lovely choice, classic & underused.

I like Beatrice Florence & Beatrice Ophelia best. I'm not keen on the alliteration of Beatrice Bella, and I'm not overly fond of Theodora, but that's just my opinion.

As for which is the right choice both are lovely but it might boil down to which is best with your surname.

Also I would think about any word the initials might spell if you use a middle name beginning with a vowel. For example if your surname happened to begin with a T you wouldn't want her initials spelling BOT!

Other suggestions: Beatrice Eliza(beth), Beatrice Georgina?

Florence or Ophelia for me too, lovely names.

Beatrice Alexandra

My nanna was Beatrice Ellen, which I love. DB's nicked the Ellen though and Beatrice doesn't go with our surname at all. Hence why I always end up sharing it on here so someone else might use it!

Beatrice Aurora

I prefer Beatrice Florence as, to my ears, an 'a' sound at the end of the second name doesn't quite fit.

The suggestions that immediately spring to my mind are Mary And Constance.

Thank you all, we love the name Beatrice (nn Bea)

We do like florence, but do you think Beatrice Florence is too similar sounding at the end?

Our surname is Smith.....so potentialy she would be 'BOS' if we were to use Ophelia....but how often do we write our initials down? Hmm

oooh I like Aurora.
'The Red Queen' I had exactly the opposit concern (please see my message above) therefore choose 'a' ending names to compensate for the similar sounds. Does Beatrice Florence not sound too 'cccc'y to you?

No, the spelling is similar but the pronunciation is different. I think it sounds lovely and sits really well with your surname.

I have a Beatrice Ella if that helps? For info we thought we had chosen a really unusual name but there is one other Bea in her group at nursery (of 8!!) and I heard another parent talk to a Bea in the playground the other day.
