DH and I really like the name Zara for our baby, and came accross it whilst looking for arabic names. Our surname begins with F though so will it remind everyone immediately of the royal connection With Zara Phillips?

Unless your surname is Philips I don't see why people would make that connection, it's a beautiful name.

PrivetHawkmoth · 27/03/2014 15:12

Nah, I don't think so. Unless your name is really similar to Philips! It's a lovely name.

squoosh · 27/03/2014 15:14

I love Zara, short, pretty and unfrilly. I hate frilly.

No doubt some people will make the Phillips connection but that's no big deal is it.

minipie · 27/03/2014 15:17

It would be more likely to remind me of the clothes shop than the Royal...

Sorry Grin

I think it's one of those sassy names :)

PreciousPeach · 28/03/2014 23:13

Zara is lovely

I love it. The only one I know is 22, Irish and a riot! Nothing royal about her at all!

Chloerose75 · 29/03/2014 03:05

Love it. Very nice pretty but sassy name, and I don't think too royal.

F surname not necessarily too Philips unless the sound is very close and even then if you love it not necessarily a bar

Sleepingstarsmommy · 29/03/2014 09:27

Love it too. My DH is arab and we will be needing a name that works both here in the uk and there. Lots of lovely girls names including Zara. Boys names are proving more difficult!!

Thanks everyone. Actually neither of us are arabs but my name is arabic and i've liked it being so, so maybe we'll continue the trend.
