Henry or Theodore?

Hi All

What does everyone prefer out of Henry or Theodore? Was dead set on Henry but now I'm starting to like Theodore as I love the name Teddy/Ted, but yet I don't like Theo.

Our surname is the same as a very famous detective starting with H if that helps.

Henry! Henry Holmes sounds ace :)

guineapig2014 · 24/03/2014 16:27

I disagree, I prefer Theodore! Henry is much more popular. I also think that goes Theodore goes better with your surname!

I prefer not to alliterate so would go with Theodore. I love both names though. if you don't like theo you will have to make everyone aware that you are using teddy as they will assume (I love the nn teddy!)

Henry fab name although oh vetoed it because his last name begins with H and he doesn't like alliteration. I think Henry Holmes sounds pretty fantastic I must say :)

Mireio · 24/03/2014 18:35

Definitely Henry.

SanityClause · 24/03/2014 18:40

Theodore.

There are always millions of Henrys.

Pinkcustardpurplecustard · 24/03/2014 19:19

Horrid Henry springs to mind sorry

Seekingsense · 24/03/2014 22:09

I think we have the same surname.

If DC2 is a boy - he will be Henry, so that gets my vote.

WillSingForCake · 24/03/2014 22:32

I prefer Theodore, but think you'll struggle to avoid the nn Theo

Buzzybees · 24/03/2014 22:48

I think Henry Theodore Holmes sounds great. Then you could still use Ted/Teddy as a family nickname but would avoid Theo as others would call him Henry?

Ham69 · 24/03/2014 22:54

Theodore and definitely go with Teddy/ Ted as nn they're the new Theo and will make Theo less popular Grin

Ilovebean · 25/03/2014 12:54

Thanks all.

Sadly DH changed his mind last night and said no too Theodore as 'we aren't posh enough for that name'. Helpful. This also happened with Hugo.

I think he's going to dig his heels in, it's Henry or nothing, however I'm suggesting we wait until DS is out so we can see what he looks like.

Henry

SuperScrimper · 25/03/2014 16:07

I'm sorry but I really dislike Henry Holmes. Theodore just has so much more to it.

Henry is such an overused name a the moment.
