What have we missed?

DD2 is due in little over 2 weeks and I'm pretty confident she is going to remain nameless.
DD1 (3.5) is Esmé and we are struggling to find a name we love as much as hers. I chose her name when I was 15 so half my life ago.

Names I like that OH has vetoed are:

Names he likes that I have vetoed are:
Isabelle
Summer
Marnie
Lorelei
Leilani

We currently have 2 on our list we both agree on though we feel neither is the 1:

Amélie

Is Amélie too close to Emily? My brother and his soon to be wife will use Emily if they ever have a girl, she feels the same about that name as I do Esmé so i wouldn't use it if it would cause upset.
What have we missed? I dont want to just make do with a name, ideally something not in the top 50 though its not a massive issue, i know DD1s name is rising the charts and it doesn't bother me. Im beginning to get a little stressed that she wont have a name!
If it helps, she would of been either Arlo, Asa or Seth if she had been a boy.

I know two Esmes. One has a sister called Delphine, the other has a sister called Nina.

I have an Esme (without the accent).

I had DS after her but they would have been called one of the following had they been pink ones

I think you also need to bear in mind you may never find a name that you love as much as DD1's name. I gave DD1 the name I had loved since the age of about 16- it was always going to be my girls name, without a shadow of a doubt.

When DD2 came along we had such a long list, and nothing really stood out for us. Even after we named her I wasn't sure. Now I love the name, mainly because it it hers, she has grown into it iyswim.

Ooh Delphine is gorgeous with Esme.

Good luck! We have 3 DSs and like you, I had decided on the first ones name way before I was even preg. It was a nightmare deciding on two more boy names! (We did get there in the end

Lydia and Amelie are much nicer than the others on either of the lists. My dd has a classic name. She is nearly 16. FWIW her friends who were given unusual, unique sorts of names detest them and have all vowed to give their own children "normal" names. Can't really post examples without outing myself I'm afraid.

Esme and Lydia would be perfect.

I agree about Amelie being much too close in sound to Esme.

I think Lydia is a lovely name, but would suggest also Leah or Leonie, as not overused but very pretty and interesting names.

If you would have used used Arlo for a boy, then give Leah or Leonie a try

Thought female form was esmee if former, like Renee or Aimee or Desiree with accents on first e although have seen a grave accent without second e
