Emilia or Caitlin?
Our surname begins with a hard C and also has a double LL in it and we can't decide if we like the double C beginning or not. Plus I'm scared that Caitlin would get shortened to Cate or Catie, whereas I wouldn't mind Emilia being shortened to Em.
We had been set on Caitlin until this morning and now we're all confused again!!!

Emilia

Caitlin would definitely get shortened I think so if you don't like the NNs then maybe not that one. I personally prefer Emilia

HolidayCriminal · 22/03/2014 19:38

Caitlin. Really don't like the other (sorry),

Emilia

Emelia

She may get Melie or Millie which you might want to consider.

Swifey · 22/03/2014 19:39

Emilia is a very pretty name, and very smart too! Whereas Caitlin is quite hard. But it's totally up to you of course!! ?? Comgrats by the way, are you due soon or have you got a while to make up your minds?

Mumof3xx · 22/03/2014 19:39

I dislike Caitlin with a c prefer it with a K

But prefer emilia to both

HolidayCriminal · 22/03/2014 19:39

Milly, Em, Emmie, Lia, no shortage of NNs on that one.
And lord knows you'll end up with people frequently thinking you said Amelia or Emily.
Don't use any name if you dislike the obvious nns.

Ilikepancakes · 22/03/2014 19:58

I think with you last name I would go with Emilia. I like Caitlin just as much but not with your last name. I thin you'll find Emilia gets shortened to Emmy.

picnicbasketcase · 22/03/2014 20:01

I prefer Emilia.

I prefer Emilia, however Amelia is very popular at the moment and you may find people mishearing and assuming she is called Amelia. Would that both you?

peppapigmustdie · 22/03/2014 20:15

I have a Caitlin (or had) from the age of 9 she called herself Cat. Never got called Caity or Cait.

peppapigmustdie · 22/03/2014 20:16

She is now 14, not dead. Just realised how that read!

AmysTiara · 22/03/2014 20:28

Emilia

sandberry · 22/03/2014 20:40

Emilia. I know it is acceptable to pronounce Caitlin like Katelyn now but I still think it is wrong.

woodrunner · 22/03/2014 20:42

Emilia.

HumTeach1012 · 22/03/2014 22:11

I teach in a secondary school and all the Caitlin's that I know/remember don't have it shortened or a nick name. X

hunreeeal · 22/03/2014 23:21

Emilia

Tea1Sugar · 23/03/2014 06:46

My dd2 is due in 3.5 weeks and is going to be Emilia. I love it!

maggiethemagpie · 23/03/2014 08:20

Emilia is nicer than Caitlin. If it were me I would shorten it to Millie as a nn, which is also nice.
