My next-door-neighbour accused me of stealing her baby's name. My DS3 is Heath, now she is thinking of Keith

Oh god

Keith

UriGeller · 14/03/2014 15:39

Heath is a grand name. So she accuses that you stole her 'baby that hasn't even been born yet's name? That is truly weird.

Let her have Keith. The loon.

NigellasDealer · 14/03/2014 15:41

oh please nobody is called Keith who is not in his fifties and really pleased with himself

Bowlersarm · 14/03/2014 15:42

Keith. Ha ha. Keith has brothers called Clive, Kevin, and Brian.

Trooperslane · 14/03/2014 15:46

Too odd, OP

Nataleejah · 14/03/2014 15:47

This Keith will be Polish, he has siblings Jaroslav and Magda

Really...

natalee tell her not to do it! explain to her that keith is an old man's name, she will have no idea!

ShadowFall · 14/03/2014 16:37

I know several lovely Keiths, but none under the age of 60. It's just not come back into fashion yet.

Still, at least the chances of someone "stealing" the name Keith from her are pretty low.

Cuxibamba · 14/03/2014 17:49

Oh God. Keith. Keith was the name of my first ever hamster when I was a kid, and even then it was intended to be ironic.

MrsMarigold · 14/03/2014 17:52

It's on a par with Trevor, Gary, Barry, Derek and Brian. Maybe this explanation will help her get it.

FelixFelix · 14/03/2014 17:53

Baby Keith...

My dad is called Keith.

bouquetofpencils · 14/03/2014 17:55

I wouldn't choose Keith
But it is similar to Keir which is nice and it has to me a bit of a Scottish cragginess about it.
Heath is lovely, very romantic.

treaclesoda · 14/03/2014 18:03

I'm probably totally missing the point here, but was the most obvious answer to her not something along the lines of 'but Heath is not the same name as Keith'.

Is she concerned that they rhyme?

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 14/03/2014 18:09

You could suggest that Nigel might be a good alternative.

GillTheGiraffe · 14/03/2014 18:11

I like Keith. I also like Kenneth

2tired2bewitty · 14/03/2014 18:15

My dad's name is Keith, he's nearly 70. Even he thought it was a terrible idea when tactful Dd suggested it for dc2!

Whatisaweekend · 14/03/2014 18:55

One of my favourite people is called Keith. He is in his 60's though. 2 thoughts:

  1. how can you have stolen her name if you have not discussed it and your baby is already born (congrats btw and Heath is a fab name) and
  2. Jaroslav, Magda and.....Keith Grin
Boulders · 14/03/2014 19:47

Tell her that you won't be next door neighbours forever and she should stick with Heath. I know a couple of E European boys called Kevinas, so Keith, Kevin type names are not unheard of on littluns.

alita7 · 14/03/2014 22:09

Keith is a DISGUSTING name and I hope no child is ever subjected to it again! I hope I didn't offend anyone...

You didn't steal the name it's different and you had it first?!

This just gave me a flashback to a reading comprehension when I was about 6 with a frog called Keith in...

BirthdayMuppet · 14/03/2014 22:18

My dh had Clive and Brian on his shortlist of names for ds1. Eight years on and I'm still not entirely sure whether he was joking or not. He seemed really hurt when I laughed out loud and said 'Ha-dee-ha ha' very sarcastically...

Glasshammer · 14/03/2014 23:08

Keith Malcolm Brian alan and Grahame

Anonymousy · 14/03/2014 23:11

My father was Keith. He'd be 74 now. But he's been dead for 25 years. Thank god. Funnily enough I despise the name. Can't think why.

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 14/03/2014 23:16

Hmm.

Try her with a few place names instead? Throw her off the Keith scent and tell her it's the trendy American thing to do.
