Hi Dh & I can't pick a middle name for Matilda, from searching threads we have come up with 4 we quite like & would appreciate feedback on these or alternatives.

Matilda Florence(my fave)
Matilda Charlotte
Matilda Primrose
Matilda Emily(dh fave)

Thanks

I love Matilda Florence and Matilda Charlotte. They're delightful :-) I'm not crazy about Matilda Emily, the flow seems a bit off, and Primrose is nms.

sleepingbeautiful · 13/03/2014 01:24

I think any of the first 3 sound better than the last one (sorry to your DH ;)) because they are all 2 syllables and Matilda is 3.

NadiaWadia · 13/03/2014 02:24

Matilda Alice? (Alice seems to come from the same time period as Matilda)

rideyourbike · 13/03/2014 03:52

Matilda rose sounds right to me :)

thegreatgatsby101 · 13/03/2014 05:42

I agree with Matilda Alice.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 13/03/2014 12:43

I like Matilda with Emily because they both have three syllables.

BaileysOnRocks · 13/03/2014 13:00

My daughter is Matilda Rose Smile

She would have been Matilda Alice if not Rose.

I love the name Florence, it's so beautiful.

indiana7 · 13/03/2014 13:06

Love Alice so much but can't have Alice as our surname ends in A, so it would be too much with Matilda endind in an "a" also:(

Matilda Rose is gorgeous Baileys but we were already told by a family member in no uncertain terms that Rose is taken already hence how Primrose got thrown into the mix! I still love Matilda Florence, think Matilda is a strong name & Florence makes it's romantic & slightly boho!!!

Matilda Roseanne? Or Matilda Rosa?
Matilda Posy?

BumpAndGrind · 13/03/2014 13:51

I would just use Rose anyway.

I told MIL that she couldn't name the puppy Georgina because I was going to use it. I was pregnant at the time but never did use it.

Is the family member pregnant yet op? If not, fuck em.

Rtfairy · 13/03/2014 14:03

My DD was nearly Matilda Florence!

DrewsWife · 13/03/2014 14:10

Husband and I are trying to conceive and we chose Matilda Grace

SaltyGoodness · 13/03/2014 17:47

yes, using Rose as a middle name does NOT count as stealing, who even uses the middle name in RL... I'm also not a fan of Primrose but Rose or any of the other 3 are nice

WowserBowser · 13/03/2014 17:52

I like Matilda Florence but would you possibly be having another girl? Florence may be nice to hold back if so.

PunkAssMoFo · 14/03/2014 07:29

I know a couple of girls called Matilda Florence & it does seem to flow well.

If you want Rose, use it. Every third child has it as a mn so they hardly have dibs on it. I do think Florence is nicer though.

Gonna throw Roslyn/Roseline, Evelyn & Beatrice into the mix

SpanielFace · 14/03/2014 07:36

DS would have been Matilda Hope if he'd been a girl.

alita7 · 14/03/2014 08:19

I like matilda Alice and matilda rose. Also matilda may, matilda jane, matilda Sophie, matilda cori, matilda eve, matilda Louise , matilda Emilia, matilda Kate or catherine and matilda Elsie.

seasaltbaby · 14/03/2014 18:39

Matilda Joy?

Ali398 · 15/03/2014 08:39

Matilda Florence is beautiful, but we do have the same taste in names ;)

slartybartfast · 15/03/2014 08:40

i like matilda primrose

MaryWestmacott · 15/03/2014 09:13

I agree with you from your list!

Matilda Emily sounds like it needs another middle name, it doesn't sound complete IYSWIM - and if neither you or DH love the other two, don't bother with them.

However, do you have any granny or great granny names you could put in as a middle name? If you and DH can't find one you both love, perhaps a middle name with meaning would be better as then it's not about the name, but about honouring hte person. (Hope that makes sense!)

guineapig2014 · 15/03/2014 21:45

What about these three?
Matilda Iris
Matilda Eve
Matilda grace

HuiledOlive · 17/03/2014 19:22

Matilda Violet? That's what my next dd will be called! DH - you listening?

Ilikepancakes · 18/03/2014 20:55

I don't like Matilda Emily as both are long three-syllable names so it sounds to complicated. Matilda works better with a one or two syllable middle name. Your first three suggestions are all lovely, my favourite is Matilda Charlotte. I like Matilda Willow.

Kaekae · 18/03/2014 23:33

Matilda Florence for me.
