Middle name for Elena

We finally decided on Elena for our beautiful girl born on friday. Not sure on the middle name yet though.

Elena Sofia (dh's suggestion which we like but has no meaning to us)

Or

Elena Hannah (has a lot of meaning for me as it was a very lovely relative)

Or

Elena Isobel (also has meaning for me)

With our ds we decided on my suggestion for his first name. So i let DH choose the middle name. He went with his brothers name. With dd Elena was his suggestion so do i push for one of my choices for the middle name?

I like Elena Isobel and Elena Hannah. However having two names that end in an a sound might be a bit strange. How many syllables does your surname have and what does it begin with?

kasbah72 · 10/03/2014 11:28

I think Elena Sofia sounds best from your options because the S follows on from the A in an easier way.

However, if you are set on Isobel or Hannah then it doesn't matter so much about flow because we rarely say a whole name in one go anyway!

I wouldn't personally make it a fight about you-had-last-time-so-I-want-this-time but it is certainly worth saying how strongly you feel about the middle name.

BTW are you pronouncing Elena as El-ay-nah or El-e-n-er or Ell-enn-ah?
If it is either of the latter two then Hannah is very similar in sound.

Other possible middle names:
Elena Louise
Elena Hope
Elena Zoe
Elena Rachel
Elena Harriet
Elena Marie
Elena Suzanne
Elena Ruby
Elena Rebecca
Elena Francis
Elena Francesca

Congratulations!

I like the last suggestion best.

Nothing that ends with the a sound.
My first thoughts were Rose, Louise, Grace, Rachel, Katherine, Beth, Faith.

StrawberryMojito · 10/03/2014 11:34

I do like Elena Isobel though.

Thanks everyone we are going with Elena Hannah (pronounced El-ay-na). I would rather have the one that means something to me than go with something just because it sounded pretty. It will hardly be used anyway but at least its still there. DH hardly took any convincing Smile

Go for what means something, imo that's what middle names are for.
