My top 15 - what's your favourite from it?

I'm a bit skeptic about posting this considering yesterday, but I've left out all hyphen names from my top list, haha.

I currently have 15 names I love for girls, and although I'm not expecting (I will be ttc within the next few years, I hope, currently at uni haha so I'm name collecting for now, but going into childcare, so mum forums are really helpful for me), I would love to know what your favourite off my list is.

I'm not currently looking for any suggestions, so if you don't like any of the names, choose the one you hate the least (Wink) or, just don't comment Grin.

My list right now:

Imogen Delilah Kate
Lettie Ophelia Jane
Beatrice Lavinia Mary
Violet Rosalind May
Elsie May Kathleen
Eleanor Iris Pearl
Florence Eliza May
Jemima Emily Florence
Amy Beatrice Louise
Lillian Elsie Maude
Martha Valerie Elise
Agatha Lily Frances
Lucy Augusta Claire
Maude Ismeria Grace (Iz-mair-ee-ah)
Dorothea Adelaide Mary

Thank you.

Your names are v nice but..... You need to choose your favourite first name (first) or whatever name you intend her to be known as and then decide on middle names.

IdaArnold · 04/03/2014 14:17

Violet Rosalind stands out for me

headoverheels · 04/03/2014 14:22

Jemima Emily Florence

Enjoy Uni and worry about baby names you are pregnant.

fideline · 04/03/2014 19:58

She's not pregnant and she's at uni!? Blimey I missed that.

Go and write an essay OP!

Burren · 04/03/2014 20:06

Go to your lectures (or indeed, the pub) and postpone this feverish deliberation!

Honestly, even when I assumed you were pregnant, I thought a list of fifteen triple names suggested a slightly eccentric level of investment.

But I agree with whoever said forget the second and third names which are almost never used -think about what you actually want to shout across the playground, and once you've decided on that, choose something to go with it.

I like Lilian, Dorothea or Imogen most out of your first names.

YouAreTalkingRubbish · 05/03/2014 00:12

OP,I really wouldn't bother thinking about names quite so much. Any potential/current boyfriend might find it a bit a lot weirdConfused

Also, naming a child should be a joint decision, your partner might have his own ideas.

I understand that you like names but it does seem like you are giving it an excessive amount of thought.

Chloerose75 · 05/03/2014 00:24

Out of the first names I really like Lucy, Martha, Imogen, Eleanor and Florence. My favourite over all combo would probably be the Florence one as all parts are nice and some of the others have a name in that I don't like.

I don't find it that unusual that you like names and made a list when you're not pregnant, for the record. Yes your list is quite detailed but it is harmless! I am not pregnant, I am ttc now but I have had name lists since I was about 7. I know what name I would pick for a girl, decided it years ago, but still do think of other combos for "fun". I know lots of girls and even some guys who also made their name lists over the years pre kids and find names interesting in general. I have a relative who always likes to strike up a chat on baby names when I see her!

fideline · 05/03/2014 00:26

Oh lordy. How many name threads does the OP have?!

People are actually trying to be kind to you, i think, Haley.

haleyalannahxo · 05/03/2014 00:31

fideline - I have 4, if you must know? And some are, yes, but ones like you, definitely are not.

chloerose75 - it's nice that someone actually does understand. I've never encountered any issues like this before, and I belong to quite a few forums. It's called being a 'name nerd' - not that weird, there are a lot worse things I could be doing. I have friends of both genders with lists. One of my best friends (male) has a son's name chosen and has since he was 14 (he's almost 19 now).

To those of you who did not judge based on my age - thank you.

I'm deleting my account because some users have basically ruined it all for me, and I don't fancy staying somewhere where it is ok for others to actually laugh at me and tell me what to do because I am 18. It's cruel, really. Opinions on NAMES are fine - but I don't tell you how to live your lives, so you have no right to tell me how to live mine.

fideline · 05/03/2014 00:37

You have already had it explained to you that your age is not the key factor in the less enthusiastic (not 'cruel')responses that you are getting.

Stop being such a drama llama and lighten up.

JessePinkmansMom · 05/03/2014 02:37

Blimey. Confused

Weird, weird, weird.

apprenticemamma · 05/03/2014 11:31

Bizarre. Has OP considered she might have a boy? Really think this forum should be for those ttc or pregnant needing advice.

squoosh · 05/03/2014 11:36

Thanks OP, you've really made me laugh! You really do sound 18.

I really don't understand people fussing over middle names, they serve absolutely no purpose. Your name list looks impossibly frilly to me.

squoosh · 05/03/2014 11:37

You made me use 'really' three times in one post, I must have been amused!

Viviennemary · 05/03/2014 12:16

Violet.

Viviennemary · 05/03/2014 12:18

Didn't see your other posts. It's only a forum. I think naming a child is very important and it's easy to get obsessed by it.

No I think you misunderstand me. My point was, as has already been made, that I don't perceive this forum to be for a list of people's fantasy names for a long time in the future possible babies, when there are people out there for whom this is a more pertinent subject. Sites such as name berry may be more appropriate. Obviously everyone's feedback is of interest though and don't believe in elitism or mumsnet being only for mums either. Smile Smile

pinkgirlythoughts · 05/03/2014 18:09

I had lists like this only longer from the age of about 13. There's nothing wrong with a bit of name-nerdiness, but as someone else said, this board is generally more for people who are actually pregnant, or intending to be soon. Behindthename.com is a great site for people who just like to talk about names, even hypothetical ones. Maybe you'll have more luck there, OP.

Great names, BTW :)

Looby12 · 05/03/2014 18:12

I like the Florence or the Amy ones

Your Amy one has both mine and dd's names in Grin

Probably should have kept that thought to myself.

(Please don't have daughters, though, frilly twee people)
