After months of struggling to find a boys name dh and I have agreed to come up with separate lists then swap (keeping open mind). Girls name sorted (maybe a sign). We don't want anything too popular, preferably short. Top of his list were Abel and Gideon, Aidan and Cillian were top of mine but we're not really happy with any of them. Suggestions welcome!

Aidan is my favourite as the others are just too "put there" for me.

LCHammer · 02/03/2014 16:35

Aidan is fine. Adrian, Adam.

Abel and Gideon sound so similar to Aidan and Cillian.

I like Abel and Cillian best.

Aidan is a bit dull and Gideon reminds me of George Osbourne.

Lottystar · 02/03/2014 18:34

I like all of your name choices, Gideon and Cillian were on my last ds list. Aiden is a good name too and Abel sounds strong. Tbh, I think you and your dh sound like you have similar tastes, if you can't agree on those names then compromise on something similar you both like. Other ideas could be:

Gabriel
Malachi
Eamon
Keir
Finbar

Really like Gideon. Don't like any of the others tbh.

Rowan
Gilbert (I don't like this but Gil is nice)

What about Hayden?

NannyPeach · 02/03/2014 20:30

I know a Killian - great name!

Sunbeam18 · 03/03/2014 09:28

Gideon???!!!!

CharlesRyder · 03/03/2014 16:00

There was a Ridyan (sp? pronounced rid-ee-an) on the radio today. That's pretty cool and it kind of rhymes with Gideon.

minipie · 03/03/2014 16:38

Rhydian (tis Welsh)

squoosh · 03/03/2014 16:41

Rhydian reminds me of that guy from the X Factor. I would therefore be inclined to say 'a thousand times NO'.

IamMrsElf · 03/03/2014 17:27

When DM was pregnant with me they didn't have a boys name either, so it was a sign for them. Could be a sign for you too.

My suggestions are:
Connall
Byron

winterhat · 03/03/2014 19:47

Gabriel
Daniel
Nathan
Oliver
Elias
William
Tristan

bouncysmiley · 03/03/2014 20:39

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will be adding some to my list. George Osbourne was my main argument against Gideon although dh thinks I'm overthinking it. Gabriel is a good shout, what do you think of Ernest?

I like Ernest (am a Wilde fan) but fear it would become Ernie/Ern.
