Surnames as first names

Baby no 2 is due in 2 weeks. Girls names sorted but not 100% on boys. My son has a surname as a first name & I'd like to do the same with no2. Any suggestions welcome.

Most boys' names are also surnames, I've found (eg Oliver, James, David).

What's your DH's name - can you add 'son' to the end? I always liked that idea. Unless it's Daniel because then he'd be under too much pressure to be good at karate...

Otherwise I like Bailey & Lester.

Highlystrungmum · 24/02/2014 18:28

Soontobeslendergirl, Cooper is my sons name & Jackson is the top name we like for no2:-) like names like that. I love Hunter but hubby not so keen. I also really like Harper but he would or ever be likened o the Beckhams girl!

DS2 has my maiden name as his middle name (Godfrey), although we had him a few weeks before we were married and daffy nurse insisted on writing ' X Godfrey Godfrey' on arm bands (why not skip middle name for that LMAO)

HoratiaDrelincourt · 24/02/2014 18:36

Archer, if you like Hunter?

I hate them. My surname is commonly used and it seems weird.

sausageandorangepickle · 24/02/2014 19:51

My maiden name is on this thread already - I do know it is used as a first name because I have heard of 2 famous (or semi famous, anyway) people called it, but it does seem weird!

Lots of boys names seem surname-y anyway. At primary school I had a friend called Spencer Lee, and people who didn't know him always mixed it up!

So, some suggestions;

OP - can I just ask what kind of reaction you get in RL to the name Cooper? I absolutely love it but it's raised a few eyebrows when I've mentioned it to friends/family in the past... I still don't think I'd let that put me off if I had a ds though, I just adore it!! Would still love to hear your experiences though as have never actually met one!!

We had never heard of a Cooper before either but just loved it & still do. It did & still does get a mixed reaction but I don't regret calling him it at all.
