Middle name for Eric?

AliBingo · 24/02/2014 12:00

DS1 due in a few weeks' time and we have loved the name Eric from the start, but we cannot think of a nice middle name to go with it, help please!

So far suggestions have included Stanley, Sidney, Quentin but we can't really tell what goes with Eric, any thoughts? Like Wilfred and Wilbur but our surname starts with W so I don't think a W middle name will work unfortunately.

Thanks!

Forgot to say, we also like Owen and Rory.

Nothing sounds quite right though. Argh.

Ooh I really like John James and george so maybe short names work better. Can't use those as already have close family members called all three but there must be other monosyllabic ones i could use. David and simon quite nice too.

Would DH's name or other significant family member's name/surname be a possibility?

Or - a significant place from your relationship with DH?

I like middle names which are chosen for their significance.

Could Eric be the middle name? Sorry, it's just the Cowell connection. And absolutely no one is called Eric. Is it a family name or do you just like Eric? Sorry, I am not a fan of Eric.

How about Simon Eric (assuming your surname not Cowell!).
Otherwise anything that people have suggested, but with Eric as middle name. Sorry xxx

I prefer Stanley and Quentin (we have one Smile) as first names too but if you prefer Eric then any of those middle names will work well imo.

SisterChristina · 26/02/2014 14:19

Eric and Quentin run into each other too much (Eriquentin)

Eric Arthur sounds nice

sonlypuppyfat · 26/02/2014 14:22

What are you thinking? I don't get this old men thing at all.

Spaghettinetti · 28/02/2014 15:12

I like Eric. I know someone with a six month old Eric. When I think of 'Eric', I think of Prince Eric from the little mermaid, Erik the Red and Eric Cantona; All good things in my mind...Well maybe not Eric the Red...

I think Eric Alexander/Laurence/Oswyn all sound nice depending on your surname.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 28/02/2014 18:23

Are you a True Blood fan, by any chance?

Eric Alexander

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 28/02/2014 18:25

DOh! pressed Post too soon, was going to say Eric Alexander as suggested earlier sounds good and if later on DS wants a few options then Alexander has several abbreviations.

PuppyMonkey · 28/02/2014 18:27

Eric the Half a Bee...

Sorry, old Monty Python sketch Grin

Only Americans use Eric, surely?

(Don't call me Shirley)

AliBingo · 03/03/2014 10:46

Argh I hadn't realised about the Simon Cowell thing, dammit!

Yeah Eric is a family name, which DH and I really like anyway, and we would have used it for DD if she had been a boy.

Not sure whether the Simon Cowell thing should put me off or not.

Loving lots of the suggestions from you all, we are thinking we might go for Eric David.

Didn't know Eric was an American thing particularly.

And no, not a huge True Blood fan!

I would go with a longer name, Alexander, Christopher etc. I also wouldnt worry about Simon Cowell, not even a bit.
