ava or evelyn?

after months of me suggesting names and dh only coming up with maureen we have finally agreed on these 2 names. ava is my favourite evelyn is dh choice. we have an emily elizabeth so im worried about too many es! evelyn would probably be called evie but I do love evie. rose will probably be the middle name (purely as im done in searching first names and rose is pretty)

so ava rose or evelyn rose? (or any other suggestions?)

Just in case it would bother you, both are extremely popular around these parts. Both are better than Maureen though

Personally I prefer Evelyn, it was what my ds1 would have been called if he was a girl. I like that it's got plenty of ways of shortening it. Ava would be too popular for us as I think it's right up there in the top 10 at the moment.

the popularity of ava was a bit of a put of but emily is just as popular. would emily and evelyn work?

I prefer it pronounced evva-lynn rather than eeva-lin. Nice either way though.

Ava Rose is the name of a porn star, so not sure if that would put you off.

maybe not ava rose then! u have made me sway more to evelyn. it was dh grandmas name so its nice to carry It on (well her name was thomasina evelyn but I dont like thomasina!)

Ava is lovely.

Both lovely but I think Evelyn and Emily are too similar. So I'd choose Ava for that reason.

thank you everyone. I think evelyn might be a winner would evelyn annie sound ok? our surname begins with r so the initials will be ear is that bad? evelyn sarah is a runner too (annie and sarah are family names)

Evelyn to be known as Evelyn.
There are just as many Evie's as Ava's. Evelyn is lovely.

I have an Evelyn Rose! I think it's beautiful and haven't come across another little Evelyn yet! We get lots of positive comments about her name.

Evelyn Annie is cute and you could do a lot worse than EAR as initials!

We have an Ava and we havn't met any other Ava's in this area. Evelyn is lovely but Emily and Evelyn might be a bit much.

I think 2 E names is a bit much.
I love Evelyn but the different pronunciations would put me off a bit (Eve-lin, eva-lin, ev-lin)
I only know one Ava but a lot of Evies.

So I vote for Ava.

We have an Evelyn - it's very popular ATM for shortening to eve / Evie.

Ours is said like 'ever-Lynn' not eve like Steve.

Annie is better than any of them!! Go with Annie Rose

Evelyn and Emily when written down start with the same letter but one starts with eee and one starts with eh so although both e names its not the same as Emily and Emma or Evelyn and Enid iyswim

Evelyn is nice. Ava is more popular and eve the most popular.

I prefer Maude which is a bit like Maureen. Kathleen is also nice. Elaina also has that same ee sound

Emmeline and Emily are pretty.

My DN is Evie, we all including her DF, call her Evie Peeevie. Her DM obviously hates it.

Avoid eve or Evie ridiculously popular. One third of the girls in dds class are named a variant of eve. Also 2 same sex dc with same initial to be avoided they won't thank you when their post is always mixed up
