Avril? Alias? Eric? Max? What else might we like?

I have started various thread on here before - and we had decided on a name, but we lost that baby. So now I'm past the 12 week mark again I'm creating a new list - just doesn't feel right revisiting the old names. Plenty of time, just looking for ideas as we already discounted so many!! I know it can be contraversial bit we want to avoid names with religious/ biblical connotations.
So far we like:

Girl
Avril
Alias or Anais
Fern
Jessame/jessamine
Marilla
Diana

I also like
Louison
Blanchette
Roberta

Boy
Eric
Dexter
Stanley
Robin
Max

I also like
Walter
Jem

Congratulations on your new pregnancy and hope that all goes smoothly. This is one precious baby!

Love the names Roberta, Diana, Eric and Walter. Good luck!

ToffeeJungle · 19/02/2014 18:35

I thought of Roberta the other day and surprised myself by thinking it was a good name!
You hardly hear it these days.
Not keen on your other girls names though Anais is ok.
I like Max and Dexter from your boys list.

Fraser

Ronnie
Jeremy
Gerald

Bovril?

Ahem. Otilie is nice. Or Oscar for a boy.

Britishseamonkey · 19/02/2014 18:45

I quite like Moira thanks.
Like Jeremy a lot but oh says makes him think of a 'bullfrog'!

Condolences, congratulations and best wishes.

I know two really impressive (and nice) women named Roberta, if that helps. The name has a really positive vibe for me.

As well as Jessamine, there is also Jessamy. Both very pretty.

Here in Scotland, April is more popular than the French April = Avril, if that is of any interest.

Louison, Diana, Marilla also great.

Of your boys' names, I like Robin and Walter best. I also like Robert (currently rather under-used, IMHO). Walter has fantastic ancient nickname = Wat.

thegreylady · 19/02/2014 19:58

Jessamy and Stanley for me :)

Amiasmummy · 19/02/2014 20:34

I'm so sorry for your loss Thanks
Robin would be a great name for a boy.. Found the following online when we were considering Robin as a name. (Have decided against it due to middle name beginning with R)

Animal Symbolism of the Red Robin - A Quick-List

Not sure if it's to your taste, but Mahlia is a name I considered for a girl (we're having a boy though) it means 'wished for child'.
We are now 99% sure we're going to name our son Nathan. On some sites it's meaning is 'Gift from God/God has given' on others it simply means 'gift'. We are not religious, but like the meaning 'gift'.
My daughter was stillborn in 2010 so I especially like the names with special meaning behind them Smile

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 19/02/2014 21:44

If Blanchette, how about Blythe?

If Marilla, how about Demelza?

If Jessamine, how about Josephine?

Also: Linnet, Juno, Beata

Walter is brilliant!

How about Heath, Hector, Otis?

Britishseamonkey · 19/02/2014 21:52

Demelza is a nice sound but it's a charity shop!

Not keen on Blythe and know a Juno - but the feel of all others is nice - nothing that quite makes my heart sing yet tho iykwim.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I think Mahlia is nice - is it pronounced like dahlia?

Britishseamonkey · 19/02/2014 21:53

Loving the meanings for Robin too!

Amiasmummy · 19/02/2014 22:04

That's how I would have pronounced it. I think it's a lovely name Smile

NadiaWadia · 21/02/2014 07:09

Jessamine or Jessame/Jessamy is gorgeous and quite unusual too. You have to go for one of those!

Marilla and Diana? I am thinking you're an Anne of Green Gables fan? They are fine, but of course Marilla rhymes with gorilla if that bothers you?

MerryWinterfel · 21/02/2014 11:53

Love all your names, how about Antonia Diana? Has a certain ring to it!
