Felix and...

Still struggling to get DH to agree on names for if this one is a girl.

We both like Tabitha and Phoebe, but I'm not sure that either work with DS's name Felix.

Tabitha and Felix = too feline!
Felix and Phoebe = although v different written down, they sound similar said aloud.

Do you agree or am I overthinking this? Thanks!

Hmm I can see your dilemma.

I liked the name Felix too, but I never got very far with girl names (just as well my two are both boys!)

I think we had Natalie, Carys, Mirabelle, Eliza, and Emily on our list. Most of those go well with Felix - apart from maybe Mirabelle.

Mrsindecision · 18/02/2014 13:19

I agree that Felix and Tabitha together are very feline, and despite my love of cats, that would be a bit too much for me! I think Felix and Phoebe sound good together - I personally don't have any problem with alliteration so I think this pairing works well.

squoosh · 18/02/2014 13:29

I agree.

One set is too feline and the other is too fee-ish.

MauriceMinor · 18/02/2014 13:47

I either with someone who had a Felix, a Tabitha and an Oscar. She was indeed cat-mad.

MauriceMinor · 18/02/2014 13:48

Are there really no other names you both like? There must be.

MauriceMinor · 18/02/2014 13:49

*I worked with...not I either with.

nonmifairidere · 18/02/2014 14:19

I just think Tweetiepie - sorry!

TheCharWoman · 18/02/2014 15:30

Rats I was hoping you'd say the names were ok! DH has also suggested Catherine nn Kitty. Should have had a litter of kittens!

MerryWinterfel · 18/02/2014 16:05

Felix and Xanthe

Ham69 · 18/02/2014 18:15

How funny! I love Kitty, Tabitha and Felix too but definitely not together!
How about Jemima? I always think of that as a similar style to Tabitha. Or Polly?

ToffeeJungle · 18/02/2014 18:19

I definitely wouldn't go for Tabitha or Phoebe.

Martha
Bethan
Cara
Lucille
Stella
Anya
Daisy
Georgia
Maia

sonlypuppyfat · 18/02/2014 18:22

Have you any other children or just Felix. So we can work out any more names.

Kantha · 18/02/2014 18:33

Agree that Tabitha and Phoebe don't work. Sorry. Would love to name a litter of kittens for you though Grin

I like a previous poster's suggestion of Jemima or what about:

Bianca
Lotta
Naomi

TheCharWoman · 18/02/2014 19:08

Ham that is so funny - Jemima and Polly are my other two names! But DH doesn't like them Sad .

It's just Felix and this one. DH "doesn't mind" Alice and Lara, but I'm not sure they're as 'interesting' as Felix iykwim

TheCharWoman · 18/02/2014 19:10

Ooh Toffee I do like Martha and Cara.
Kantha, I like Naomi too but it wouldn't work with our surname

OP posts:
Felix90 · 18/02/2014 19:11

Merry that's odd as my name is Xanthe and my nn is Felix Grin

I've always wanted a Felix, but we had a baby girl! I agree, I'd avoid Tabitha as it really is too feline. I don't think Felix and phoebe sounds too bad.

WallyBantersJunkBox · 18/02/2014 19:16

Lots of Felix's in school with DS here (German bilingual school).

Their sisters are:

Elisa
Alyssa
Lotte (Charlotte)
Anna
Ingrid

If that helps? Or perhaps look up some traditional German names to match?

Ham69 · 18/02/2014 19:19

What a coincidence! You have great taste Grin
If he likes Lara how about Clara?

pinkpip100 · 19/02/2014 00:38

Ok, at the risk of outing myself totally, I have a 7 year old Felix and his sisters are Sylvie and Kirsten (nn.Kitty)! Interestingly DH vetoed Kitty with dd1 because of the feline link, but by the time we got round to naming dd2 neither of us cared. In all honestly, very few people have ever commented on Felix being a cat's name, and no one seems to bat an eyelid at him having a little sister called Kitty. Therefore I'd say Tabitha is no problem!

pinkpip100 · 19/02/2014 00:40

Oh, and other names we liked included:
Emmeline
Florence
Anya
Thea
Camille
Cara
Dulcie
Greta

SilkStalkings · 19/02/2014 09:21

Have you heard of Editha? Pronounced like ED-ith-a.

TheCharWoman · 19/02/2014 17:55

Oh that's nice to hear pinkpip (your kids have lovely names!) I do like Thea and Cara, but DH is so damned fussy. I think Editha is too unusual for him too.

Hopefully it will be a boy because we're sorted for a boy's name!
