Just wondered what you all thought of the name Rowan? I know it can be unisex but wanting to know what you think of it for boys only, middle name James. Thank you! x

I love it, on the list for future use.

Lovely name. If I had had a boy we would have used it.

yes it is a lovely name for a boy - we know a 'boy rowan' and 'girl rowan' and it is truly unisex

lookdeepintotheparka · 15/02/2014 17:00

Yes is lovely for a boy - I prefer it as a boys name personally although I know it's used for both Smile

DramaAlpaca · 15/02/2014 17:01

I also prefer it as a boy's name.

Love Rowan James.

Nataleejah · 16/02/2014 19:46

I first think of Mr. Bean...

We wanted to call our ds Rowan, but dh's brother looks just like Rowan Atkinson. As much as we both love and admire him (RA, that is) we just didn't think we could!

Still love the name though and would have used it if not for bil!!!

MirandaGoshawk · 16/02/2014 19:59

I love it for both boys and girls.

playftseforme · 16/02/2014 20:01

Love it!

Noggie · 16/02/2014 20:02

Really like it- I have taught a few- some like it pronounced with the w others 'roan'.

Leeds2 · 16/02/2014 21:58

I don't like it as a boy's name. Love it for girls though.

NadiaWadia · 17/02/2014 04:23

Sounds a bit girly to me. Probably because the first one I met was a girl. But tree and plant names are usually female, eg Willow, Ivy and so on.

Weegiemum · 17/02/2014 04:26

One of dd1's best friends is a girl Rowan (pronounced like the tree). In Acotland where we are it's pretty much exclusively a girls name, and I love it as such.

FluffyDavis · 17/02/2014 04:26

Love it!
If dd1 had been a boy we would have used Rowan.

bluebelle2662 · 18/02/2014 15:12

It's on my list too. Rowan David for us if we go with it x

Aboyandabunny · 18/02/2014 15:22

I'm in Scotland. I know 3 boy Rowans but no girls.

AngelaDaviesHair · 18/02/2014 15:26

Really like it.
