We might go with James but was wondering if there are any other nicknames/short names I've forgotten about-

Jamie
Jim
Jimmy

Any others?

Jimbob, Jampot,

Up my way anyway!!

sooperdooper · 15/02/2014 10:00

My DH is Jay, short for James

FlankShaftMcWap · 15/02/2014 10:20

DS2 gets Jamesy from my Granny, it makes DH wince as he wanted James to be James only. It makes me Grin as I let him have James William when I wanted William James on the condition that I could use a NN but he pulled a face at every one once he had his way Angry

Jambo, Jamo and i think the most common one now is Jamie.

Looby12 · 15/02/2014 15:07

Jamo (pronounced jaymo) was what we used as kids but I don't hear that much now

LuckyDayInHell · 15/02/2014 15:08

I have a James Smile we call him Jim jam, Jim bob, jimbo and JJ (those are his initials)
FiL calls him Jamie which I didn't mind before but gets on my tits now.

Britishseamonkey · 19/02/2014 22:07

Jem all the way!!!

Chloerose75 · 19/02/2014 22:09

I like Jamie and Jem

minglemanglemunchkin · 19/02/2014 22:48

Jam!

BirthdayMuppet · 19/02/2014 23:08

I know a Jam and a Jem, both short for James. Much prefer Jem.

TheBuskersDog · 19/02/2014 23:16

We have a James who we knew we never wanted to be called Jamie (which was quite popular at the time), although my mum did try a few times when he was a baby. However he has been called Jamesy, Jim, Jimbo, Jimbob etc over the years, but they are affectionate nicknames used naturally by family, not names we have decided he will be called IYSWIM.

Jem is very Edwardian.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 20/02/2014 01:13

There's a Jem in the Chalet School. Husband to Madge. BIL to Jo.

CheerfulYank · 20/02/2014 01:16

Jem is Anne's oldest boy (of Anne of Green Gables :) ) short for James Matthew. There was a Jem in the movie the Town (though not a nice one) and I wondered if it might make a comeback.

I love James too! It's FIL and BIL's name and they are Jim and Jamey (never Jamie).

TheGreatCatsby · 20/02/2014 11:57

Jimbojambo
Jamesylicious
Jimbles
Jama's ( as in pyjamas)
Ja-bomb..

My poor son ;)

squoosh · 20/02/2014 11:59

That's the Jem I always think of Cheerful.....and then I'm reminded of poor old Walter.

CheerfulYank · 20/02/2014 17:03

Yy squoosh. And Rilla! "She did not awaken to her pain for many hours."

And Jem's Dog Monday! Oh I cannot.
