Another one who thought of the shopaholic books, maybe Minnie Grin

justhayley · 13/02/2014 22:11

Bum are these books really popular or future classics?

IneedAwittierNickname · 13/02/2014 22:12

I know loads of people who have read them, not sure what that means though!

justhayley · 13/02/2014 22:22

Might have to jump on the bandwagon & have a read

Ooh, I quite like Dixie Dot Grin

Tallulah always makes me think of Bugsy Malone - in a good way. Go for it, have it as a first name.

NannyPlumForPM · 13/02/2014 23:06

Tallullah phoebe is what the main character calls her 'fake ' baby in one sentence on one page in one of 6 books if a series. It is never mentioned before or after so I don't think it is a viable literary reference Hmm

But great books all the same :) definitely worth a read

winterhat · 13/02/2014 23:13

I like it.

BirthdayMuppet · 13/02/2014 23:29

Oh well, in for a penny, in for a pound, I hate both names greatly. They're awful.

threeleftfeet · 14/02/2014 00:55

Great name :) go for it!

NinjaCow · 14/02/2014 02:15

I don't like either name, but they flow really well together tbh. It sounds a bit too girly/feminine for my taste but they go well, so if that is your style then fine.

justhayley · 14/02/2014 16:45

Lol I do love a strong opinion birthday.

DP hasn't been home this week so going to pitch it to him tonight and see what he thinks.
It's really growing on me but knowing him I can't see him liking it, he's far more boring classic Wink

Phoebe is nice but tallulah is dreadful. And 'if bubba is pink' is a sentence that no sentient adult woman should ever say.

Sheldonswhiteboard · 15/02/2014 08:56

I like Phoebe it sounds feminine but also strong. Tallulah, no sorry, I couldn't take someone seriously with that name, I guess if it's a middle name not so bad but I wouldn't.

dancemom · 15/02/2014 09:13

Erikur so glad you said that, I couldn't take in any of the posts after I read that sentence!

justhayley · 15/02/2014 09:17

Sorry my sentence offended you both so much, but come on ladies no need to be old grumps, just opinions on the name will do Smile

RaRa1988 · 15/02/2014 16:56

To be perfectly honest (and quite clearly I'm very much in the minority!), I think it's awful. When you say 'if bubba is pink', you make me think that you'll dress your daughter in pink and frills and fluff, which I think makes the name perfectly suiting - just not to my taste at all. I think it sounds like the name the class bitch would have in some tacky American drama - but as I say, clearly I'm in the minority! Smile

EirikurNoromaour · 15/02/2014 17:22

Leaving aside the word 'bubba', your baby is neither pink nor blue. Nor does it have a gender, but a sex. If it is of the female sex it will still not be pink. Using pink and blue to denote sex or gender of unborn babies is atrocious gender conditioning of a child who is not even born yet.

Jellymum1 · 15/02/2014 17:41

As a mother of a Phoebe it is a cool name and is neither meek nor mild on my child! It also means goddess of the moon/goddess of the light. It is now much more popular than when i had my Phoebe. But im pregnant with a PINK BUBBA number two who will be called Poppy (hear the horrified gasps from the kate whotsername fans). Tallulah is not my favorite name but thats ok...its not my baby. The character of the girl born will be developed from the love and life you give her, her character be it pink or frilly or a bitch from a teen movie will not be predetermined by her name. My Phoebe is the biggest tom boy going and there is not a pink frill in sight... good luck with your baby OP x

CPtart · 15/02/2014 17:52

Phoebe is nice enough.
Tallulah sounds like a drag queen.

justhayley · 15/02/2014 18:17

Hehe thanks Jelly.
I think Poppy is a lovely name, congratulations xx

I don't see Phoebe as an overly "pink & frilly" name, get that Tallulah is but think I could call my daughter Pheobe, Gurk, or Lilly belle fairy flower, & it wouldn't change or affect her personality.

OP posts:
RaRa1988 · 15/02/2014 18:37

I wouldn't disagree with you there, OP - just giving my opinion on your name and the connotations it presents to me , but you are quite right in that it won't determine her personality.

IneedAwittierNickname · 15/02/2014 19:22

Thinking about it, I think the imaginary baby in shopaholic is Tallulah Phoebe.
Not that that helps!

buttercrumble · 15/02/2014 19:24

Love willow , how about Violet Smile

Kaekae · 15/02/2014 19:34

I used to like Tallulah but it is slightly too celeb now, sorry.
Poppy and Phoebe do not "go" at all in my opinion, too similar.
