Hi,
We've just found out we're expecting baby number 3, it's taken us a little by surprise as Ds1 has just had his first birthday and we were going to leave a bit more of a gap, but hey ho, we're over the moon!

The only problem, after a recent 9 months of deliberating (somewhat obsessively) over the perfect name, and chosing it, any other boys name feels a little rejected!

Our list so far...

Magnus
Hugo
Horatio
Lysander
Julius
Gerard
Archibald

And I'm really not sure on any of them.

Yes, they are a little 'public school' but Dd1 is at a prep school and Ds1 starts the prep nursery pretty soon, so baby 3 will be in that environment.

Our girl names are Tabitha, Perdita or Jemima.
Dd1 is Isabella Juliette and Ds1 is Arthur Benjamin...

Any suggestion on names of I may not have thought of would be greatly received.

Thank you Smile

Gulliver. I knew a boy at uni called this - would never be brave enough myself.

Magnus is a great name!

In fact I like all the names you've mentioned except Perdita, which is awful!

People would think you were referring to the maid or the nanny if you mentioned Isabella, Arthur and Perdita in the same sentence Hmm

NightCircus · 10/02/2014 08:31

From yours I like Hugo and quite like Jemima

Isabella, Arthur and
Christopher (Kit)
Jeremy (Jem)
Laurence (Laurie)
Edmund
Edwin
Ferdinand
Heath
Mortimer
Phineas

Isabella, Arthur and
Delphine
Ariadne
Selena
Camilla
Vivienne

Vitamin C- that's hilarious, and now I come to think of it, I'm pretty sure a childhood friend's nanny was Perdita and she tried to get off with the Dad, so.... Perdita is out!

My Husband and I were at boarding school together and are both still pretty institutionalised and still regularly see all of our old school friends... all of whom are sprouting families and a lot of the names above have been snaffled up... Otto, Jeremy, Sebastian, Freddie, Heath, William, Oliver, Laurence, Gabriel, Caspian, Casper & Jasper! in the last few months- we have been a busy bunch!

I know we could use one of these names, but... well, you know!

Loving Gulliver!! Absolutely loving it, but I'n not sure DH is brave enough.

Definitely sending the DH off for the snip after this one is out safely... baby naming is far too stressful!

Thank you all for your brilliant suggestions, keep them coming! x

Just emailed DH to suggest Gulliver...

His reply... 'Is this a hormone thing? Are you going to go mental and start weeping over the Snow Leopard advert again?- Please retain some thread of rationality...'

I guess that's a no then.

Pandora.
Portia.

Magnus and Hugo sound great with your DCs' names.

Can I throw in Rollo?

Wishfulmakeupping · 10/02/2014 11:46

Hugo works best with your dc's names you might also like Ralph (pronounced Rafe) or just Rafe itself :)

Mrsfullhouse · 10/02/2014 11:50

I love Pandora, but will have the enduring image of knobby people asking her about her 'box'

Shame.

Ralph (pronounced Rafe) and Ranulph (nn Rafe) are DH's favourite.

But i just think he'll get called Ralph- which just makes me think of a cartoon/ puppet dog.

Lysander is very nice

soontobeslendergirl · 10/02/2014 13:17

Isabella, Arthur and Gabrielle

Wishfulmakeupping · 10/02/2014 13:44

I'm with your dh them OP I think Ralph (rafe) with your dc's names Is pretty fabulous and you'd only need to correct people once

SicknSpan · 10/02/2014 20:04

Ivan.

I am adding this to the top of my boy list for dc3- only came up with it today and am totally in live with it. Yet to pass the dh test though.

SicknSpan · 10/02/2014 21:24

Bugger. It failed miserably.

Dovahkiin · 10/02/2014 23:14

Gutted. Shock

SicknSpan · 10/02/2014 23:22

I also suggested Magnus which I think is a lovely, strong but quirky name. He asked if I had been eating shrooms. No sense of flair, my husband.

I still hanker for Ivan, Dovahkiin don't fret!

bouncingbelle · 10/02/2014 23:26
